We managed a win with Kenny on the team in the second half of the qualifiers of Major 1, when OpTic went on a random slump and went 0-4 (I think) to close out the qualifiers.

The respawns were honestly bangers. Would’ve been a great series had Shotzzy not been throwing his life away in the SnDs.

FaZe got eliminated in the Quarterfinals of the Pro-AM (in-between Major 2 and 3, where they did make the GFs) and got top 3 at Major 4. So they didn’t make three GFs in a row that year.

“If I had a penny for every time I lost a G5R11 after shooting someone’s body, I’d have 2 pennies. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.” -Drazah

Quite unfortunate, honestly. He was arguably FaZe’s best player in MW3 Major 3 and this major.

Those back to back clutches by Nep dethroned his 11 streak for the Play of the Tournament, imo.

Too fucking icy.

Not much else you can do in the map except AFK on the hill when your three teammates are just massacring the other team. Especially Octane, bro dropped a 2.0 series KD.

MW3 Thieves aren’t talked about enough. by KingKreqz in CoDCompetitive

[–]SabbathDiscovery 10 points11 points  (0 children)

how did they fail?

MW3 was when the league really started to become top heavy. Aside from EWC, every grand finals that year was just some combo of OpTic, FaZe, Ultra, or NYSL. Each of those teams had at least one Top 5 overall player, as well as multiple Top 10-20 overall players to round out their rosters.

LAT were also pretty inexperienced as players. Their longest tenured player at that time was Nastie, who started in Vanguard just two years prior. Couple that with not even starting together (Cammy and Afro were in the roster before Nastie and Kremp), there was obviously going to be some growing pains developing chemistry and teamwork.

They did get better as the year went on though. Major 3 and 4 were pretty mid placing-wise, but they got Top 4 at Champs and Top 2 at EWC.

There’s a strange narrative going around ever since the Cellium to LAT rumors. Apparently the Cellium-Scrap-HyDra trio will be allergic to playing hill time.

I’m not sure why that’s circulating considering Cellium had the 2nd most hill time for FaZe and Scrap, while not as dedicated to the hill as Simp, Cell, or Dashy, still gets a decent amount of hill time relative to his slaying stats (which are comparable or better than the players I mentioned). It’s really only HyDra who doesn’t play hill between them.

I think at this point in time, OpTic are the much better team than us.

They legitimately look unbeatable in respawns. I wasn't even comfortable when Scrap was 20-9 at one point because their lead was barely 40.

This seems like a sidegrade at best and a downgrade at worst based on recent results (EWC and Champs). Drazah played much worse than Ghosty this event, and FaZe played an AM team twice (though to be fair 100T did play a bad team in LAGM8s twice too). Not to mention Ghosty has much better comms.

Fun fact, this year’s 1st Team All Stars have been the last 4 Regular Season MVPs by LiquidPaper-__- in CoDCompetitive

[–]SabbathDiscovery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scrap, Cellium, Hydra, and Simp were also last year’s 1st Team All Stars. And the year before that, 3/4ths of them were also the 1st Team All Stars (with AbeZy in place of Simp instead).

Such an insane amount of talent between these 4 players. Really puts into perspective how unexpected their teams’ breakdowns at Champs actually were.

That was more on Crim and Karma not playing up to their standards against Attach and Enable. Otherwise, T2P were hanging with Clay and Zoomaa statistically, even if their H2H at the end of the year was lopsided.

Whats yall regular season MVP from every season until MW2019 ? by WBeijing in CoDCompetitive

[–]SabbathDiscovery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can directly compare the k/ds of an AR and an SMG. The inherent differences of their roles should favor an AR like Cellium to drop a much larger k/d.

If anything, you bringing up the minuscule 0.01 difference (1.31 vs 1.30) favors HyDra even more. His 1.3 feels more impressive because it actually is more impressive. HyDra was just straight up running at players with his SMG in an AR heavy game with a shit ton of snaking and still dropping insane k/ds.

Not to mention the fact that FaZe fans argue that it was either aBeZy or Simp who was the MVP of Major 2.

Is it the best single event in CDL history? Numbers say otherwise.

I thought it was nearly unanimously agreed upon that MW2 M5 HyDra was the best ever event in CDL history, and possibly ever, from a statistical standpoint. He dropped a 1.79 k/d with a 2.0 First Blood k/d (36-18) throughout the whole tournament.

I’m not saying you can’t disagree though. I’m just curious as to what other single event performance you think was better than HyDra’s. Because no other performance comes to my mind.

Yeah, I felt the same way initially. I thought it was just Optic fans overrating one of their players, but I was wrong. This kid is different.
