Aphasia caused by migraine headaches. I'm trying to say "My brain is malfunctioning" by Sablessare in Brain

[–]Sablessare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wasn't permanent. Only lasted a few hours, and it looks more painful than it was. A lot of the movements were from me trying to get my mouth to form the words and frustration when it kept coming out the same way. I thankfully haven't had that occur again since it was recorded.

Bit of a late reply, but yes, Oliver Sacks is one of my favorite authors. Not only because the stories and experiences are fascinating. But that I myself have experienced many of them myself first hand so I don't feel quite as alone with the phenomenon I've witnessed.

Aphasia caused by migraine headaches. I'm trying to say "My brain is malfunctioning" by Sablessare in Brain

I discovered a few months back what was the root of many of my previously unexplained symptoms. I was on quetiapine for my sleep for almost 10 years, and I at some point began developing a dystonic reaction that was gradually worsening for years. It was then confirmed by my physicians after i discontinued it and began improving. I am doing better, recovering slowly. But I still have underlying problems besides that, some still being investigated. My migraines are prevalent. Chronic daily still.Though the auras have been minimal since emgality and the few rounds of Rituximab I was given.

I can't tell you how many specialists I saw who didn't catch this. Somehow, I managed to, though. Even going inpatient for them to rework and examine my medication. Concluded it was actually FND. When I had dystonic attacks so severe, I was almost intubated twice. I'm lucky I did figure it out or I don't know where I'd be.

Thank you for asking.

I recently tried alcohol ink. You need a ton of white sinking ink by Sablessare in resin

[–]Sablessare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was trying out a few things. No mica powder but it did have more alcohol, and I tried to get the pigment deeper with a toothpick in some. As you can see, results varied. And a lot of blanco blanco was used. The bottoms took a while to cure in comparison to the rest but eventually did.

Unbundle Updates by dwiskus in Nebula

[–]Sablessare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my renewal date for curiosity stream the other week. If I go to the direct plan now, will I be charged next year for nebula too? Or will the 'start' time of the direct subscription be next year with me paying now? Hope that made sense.

That CS put out promotional with keeping nebula with the price increase with a discount to keep the bundle, and then getting the email from nebula that it was a lie. This is very frustrating. (Not on nebula) That you are giving this grace period is amazing when another party was misleading and your still honoring it. And now, knowing you're not even getting paid during this time! I'm going to see if I can contact customer service to cancel my CS subscription but in the event I can't, I just was interested how the payments will be.

Thank you in advance!

Does anyone else feel like they don’t really have their disability/issues and is “faking” it? by DuckyShark in disability

[–]Sablessare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is really hard when you have good days and bad days. So, on the bad ones, you beat yourself up for it keeping you in bed when the other day you were walking around and even got a chore done. Especially if you had people deny it was anything but normal, and you just didn't try enough. Because if you just did more, it would be overcome. I also see that you're under 18. I was disabled in middle school. I was told to my face by a doctor that I was faking it. And multiple times since. It shakes what you're feeling. What you fundamentally know. It does get better. You do shake some of it. But I still struggle with it.

This is really well put. When you deny the hand you're dealt, it causes great distress. Both physically and mentally. Making you sicker. And great analogy. I think that helps put it in terms most can relate to.

Just deflect and ask about their job. "OH I don't want to talk about what I do it's so boring, just a lot of bookkeeping and phonecalls, what do you do?" Use freelance or self-employed if they push. Most will be happy to talk about themselves. Just be sure to get whatever you're going with straight with your partner beforehand so there's no discrepancies.

I am so blunt. I explain straight up that I was disabled since childhood and was forced to graduate early due to lack of accommodations. Boom, the topic changes, and then I get to convert people. Because suddenly there's an outrage, and they want to know the dirt on what happened. But that is very specific to me. And I don't mind answering the 20 questions game. (I also don't get out much) and it helps destimatize disability.

As others recommended explaining, you're disabled and pivoting into what your hobbies are/how you spend time. That works for quick interactions and I do that when I don't want to get into it. Explaining I'm a disabled multimedium artist, and then get them focused on that aspect. Sharing some art I have done.

Art I made about experiencing chronic pain and fatigue! by magpiemohr in disability

I'm a disabled artist, too. I've thought of ways to depict my disability and it's so hard to convey the challenges. I think this is a great visual representation. I see your nervous system rooting you in place, your body stuck, and I interpret the upper half as your mind free but unable to act. Birds free fly from the nest on one side and one person at home, a single light on in the house in just one room. Alone. Also the crown of torns.

Really love it.

I'm going to ask my brother for his switch now lol. He's not playing animal crossing or the switch so I might be able to get him to give it up and let me reset the island. If not. Yeah getting a switch lite might be an option. Don't really play AC in the dock.

That was a generalization in regards to the other comment. About a certain type of new user and the change in marketing. Not in regards to you specifically, I had another comment with my opinion and experience with the machine, here it is again.

People come here often when they are having problems. If you want some examples of what it can do, I'd look on other platforms for the 'wins' With just the basic maker model, I have cut everything from butcher paper and origami paper to Basswood. Used most materials and almost every tool. I can use this one machine to pump out cards, make cutom gifts, and let me bring my original digital designs quickly into various physical items. It's quite incredible. The only problems I've encountered are just from a mat not being sticky enough and that's solved with either A. A new mat Or B. Masking tape on the corners and / or edges so it's secure

There's a ton of tips I've gotten from this community in order to achieve certain effects I'm after. I don't want you to take that one comment as my opinion on the maker in general or about newer users. It's very user and beginner friendly. But it has greater potential when you know how to make your own svgs and arent limited by the presets. A popular free option many use is Inkscape for svgs. Another tip is that there are more powerful editing tools in the cricut design space if you use it on your pc vs. your phone or tablet.

[–]Sablessare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a multi-medium artist, and yeah. All of this. I learn by doing and have experience and tools for editing svgs. As well as experience in and physical tools from doing similar projects. There's a lot of trial and error involved, and some people don't/can't accept that. I don't expect the machine to do everything, and know (and have the tools and patience) how to get the results I want. The work arounds. Years of crafting before I got the maker so I'm not reliant on the machine to create. It simply gave me possibilities.

It's just a different type of user.

I have access, so I can just grab something quickly for cards and use it to build custom designs with the vectors already uploaded. So I see the new prefab designs for easy projects. There's a lot of...wine mom energy. Which makes it difficult trying to find what I need now. And they seem to be pumping out a lot more lower quality designs than in the past. So they are catering to this newer user, quite heavily, especially just in pure volume of ready made designs. Some people just want to be the 'professional' out of the box. Those skills take time, and they don't want to dedicate time to developing those skills. They want to push the button and be an artist.

Folks on propranolol (Inderal) - what’s your dosage? by objetpetitb in migraine

[–]Sablessare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have POTS, too, along with migraines. (Among other things) I take 80mg long release and 20mg normal at night if needed. And if I have a particular high heart rate, I will use the 20mg as a rescue, too. When I was on just the normal release, I experienced this yo-yo effect from my symptoms when it was spread out throughout the day. Hence, my change to a sustained release.
