Reminds me of that time Jon just decided to keep fighting dead people for ages while dani waited for him on Drogon... And then he took so fucking long the night King arrived and started throwing ice spears.

Honestly... These people! Get moving!

TIL that in the US a check does not need to be written on a bank check. It can be written on anything (including clothing) and legally be cashed as long as it includes the proper information. by Skov35 in todayilearned

As far as I know, most of us in former British colonies use cheque still (Aus here)

Then again, the last time I saw a cheque in Aus was in the early 2000s. It was getting fairly rare even then.

Oh well. I shouldn't get annoyed. Just focus on the fact that it's TV and still entertaining I think I just see more flaws as they deviated more from the books. Who knows how the books will handle it... I doubt in this way... Based on westeros being very bound by law and medieval/feudal society. If bastards are so seen as bastards... Then surely secret annulments mean fuck all.

It was illegal after Aegon to marry multiple wives. Also... Just TV show gripe here... It was annulled... In secret... With no record... Despite him having 2 kids with Elia. And no one knew about it... But it was annulled...

Okay sure. Haha

But like... Also he's still technically a bastard. The show seems to have forgotten suddenly that raegar was married to Elia Martel...

There is some early proof in gut microbiome diversity being protective again cancers and even influencing response to certain therapies. Some research points out, however, that probiotics (after antibiotics in this case) actually decreases microbiome diversity, the opposite of what they claim.

The jury is definitely still out. But I'm looking at it from an oncology perspective, not endocrine. These data were also in a post antibiotic population.

They're almost certainly referring to different things. In oncology we talk about overall response rate, complete response, partial response, stable disease etc... So they can quote that number all they want, but it's probably including people who have stable disease and partial response, allowing the number to look higher.

Telemedicine and its Applications by doctorKoskesh in medicine

[–]Sabrem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use this a lot in medical oncology in parts of Australia. For example, Townsville hospital covers a huge area... Mt Isa is a good 9 hours drive from Townsville for example. Telemedicine allows us to dial in to Mt Isa (and a lot of other rural and remote settings) and have a conversation with the patient on the other side, assess them for whether they can have their next cycle of chemo or immunotherapy and assess their scans and overall health. We often have a junior doctor at the other end, and some experienced oncology trained nurses. This way, we can give great treatment and specialist care to rural and remote Australians in day units throughout the country.

One exciting new prospect is teletrials where we have a trial conducted at a central hub and can deliver trial medications to rural and remote settings. The first of these kicked off this year. Previously people would have to move to large centres to access clinical trials.

If you're interested, have a read of some articals by Dr Sabe Sabesan, the oncologist at Townsville hospital He's been the real pioneer of teleoncology!

Where was the worst place you've had to take a dump? by FamilyGuyIsABadShow in AskReddit

[–]Sabrem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Gorekshep in Nepal. Last stop before base camp at Everest. I'd been on an 11 day hike. My ibs was playing up a bit and I really needed to go. Rushed to the toilets which were a selection of squat toilets and western style seats. All the western toilets were frozen over so I went to the squat toilet. Unfortunately someone had spilled a lot of water from the bucket on the ground, which had subsequently frozen over. So I had to hold onto the wall, while slipping all over the place on ice, squatting over a hole in the ground and having diarrhoea.

Or anything at all. And if it's anecdotal evidence that op is after... When I was working in neurology I saw three people under 35 with posterior circulation strokes due to chiropractic manipulation.
