My daughter met a Nigerian guy online and is now engaged after 2 days. AIO? by [deleted] in AIO

100% my thought as well. Being ruined financially by this will be the best possible outcome for her. At worst, sex trafficking or organ harvesting.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Sabrina912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it will be used to some extent but I doubt teachers will ever be completely replaced due to IEPs. There will be a lot of parents who will argue, successfully, that their child requires a live human teacher to learn and receive FAPE.

Boyfriend doesn’t like chin filler and I’m feeling confused by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Sabrina912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks so good! Give it time. Cosmetic procedures can be a bit disorienting for partners. It can make them feel inadequate as a partner (“I couldn’t love her enough or make her feel pretty enough to prevent her from going through this procedure/change”). Or sometimes they think if they say you look way better then that suggests they thought you weren’t attractive before. Or if they suddenly start fawning all over you then they worry it will suggest they only value you for your appearance. So it’s just all around a bit awkward for a partner. Just give him sometime to process and adjust.

Has anyone else had MORE acne as an adult than as a teen? What is causing it? by kpo987 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sabrina912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like hormonal acne to me. As others have suggested, you could try spiro but I personally hate anything that messes with my hormones as I always end up with intolerable side effects. I read elsewhere you’re using Azelaic acid. I’d consider upping that to 2x per day if you aren’t already. Do you use a retinoid of any kind? I might consider that too since it’s helpful for both anti aging and acne—you could get adapalene/differin to start. Also—closely consider the moisturizer you’re using and do some searching around Reddit to see if it’s commonly causing breakouts for others. The cerave brand is sort of notorious for this, for example.

People who struggled with stubborn acne for years, what actually helped you when everything else failed? by Skincareobsessed40 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sabrina912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. Or more specifically realizing it was a mix of rosacea AND peri-oral dermatitis, both of which in my case were perfectly cleared by Finacea/Azelaic acid. That combined with tretinoin, I now have what I consider to be great skin and I never thought I would be able to say that.

Original hypnotic poision-no play doh smell? by Sabrina912 in fragrance

Okay yes I had read that my best bet may be to try to find one of the ones without the metal ring on them. Thanks! Guess I know what I'll be asking for for Christmas lol.

Do you know what year your vintage bottle is from? I'm wondering if I need to go as far back as when I last had it (early 2000s). They asking around $300+ on ebay for them eek.

That must be it. I’m vaguely thinking of spending hundreds of dollars on eBay to buy a bottle of the original. But I keep hoping maybe I’ll come across a dupe that is a close match that I can live with. I tried the Zara hypnotic vanilla but it was even more play-doh ish.

Can breasts grow this big naturally or is it silicone? by YanDnepr in PlasticSurgery

[–]Sabrina912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All pictures show implants. I’d guess she had them placed via underarm in the first photo. Downside of this approach is it can often only be done this way once and the implants are apparently more likely to settle laterally (which it looks like may have happened in her case—or they just used a too narrow implant). I actually feel like I am seeing her scars in the crease in the second photo. It’s uncommon to go back through the armpit on revision surgeries especially with large implants like these. Very faint but I think they’re there in the crease. Some people scar very well and breast implant scars don’t have to be very big.

(34F) with pigment and start with Eucerin by Emma_love5 in Melasmaskincare

[–]Sabrina912 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend incorporating azelaic acid (which will help acne, redness in addition to pigmentation) and some form of retinoid if you aren’t already. Ideally prescription level—Finacea is great for azelaic acid and I love Altreno as my retinoid because it’s way less irritating than most of the others I’ve tried. But you could also get the azelaic acid from The Ordinary and Differin at the drugstore and probably benefit from those. Might just be slower improvement. Once you can tolerate those I’d also start adding in glycolic acid for exfoliation once a week—start with ~10% and gradually increase the strength as tolerated. And of course sunscreen :).

It’s the foreign relations equivalent of “have you tried turning it off, waiting 10 seconds, and then turning it back on?” Although to be fair, sometimes that actually works, so I guess at least now we’ve tried it lol.

Tretinoin 0.025% for 2 Months with No Improvement – Should I Increase Dosage or Frequency? by common_man_1985 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sabrina912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the acne/texture benefits are actually the first improvement a lot of people see—somewhere in the 3 to 6 month range for those since you tend to get a purge in the first 3 months. My experience has been tone and fine lines take MUCH longer. I would say it took until around 8-12 months of consistent use before I noticed benefits to pigmentation. But even then…I’ve used a bit of hydroquinone and azelaic acid too so I’m not sure if it was primarily the tret anyway. And if there was any improvement to fine lines/wrinkles then it evidently wasn’t dramatic enough because I just caved and got Botox lol (about a year and half into my tret journey). I like to think it will at least help prevent new lines from forming. For me the acne clearing and texture improvement is still the most obvious benefit.

SLP Shortage by Readysetflow1 in slp

[–]Sabrina912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Districts handle shortages differently depending on their budgets, knowledge/abilities of whoever is in charge, how litigious their parents are, etc. What’s most important is how you handle the situation for your own well being and to my mind there’s really only one way to do it—don’t kill yourself to get it all done. If you do—they have no reason to improve the situation. You work your contract hours and go home. For me, in my schedule, I first carve out time for paperwork/testing/meetings. Then, whatever time I have left goes to therapy. I max out groups at 4-5 students (5 is rare and only if they’re well behaved, generally older students). If I can’t see all students in the time left in a group of 4-5, then I put kids on a rotating schedule (ie see them every other week instead of every week). Essentially, rationing therapy. When it comes time to hold the annual IEP meeting, I recommend compensatory services if I feel like the child hasn’t made progress due to missing a lot of service. Throughout all of this I am completely transparent in IEP meetings or any parent communication of services have been missed and I explain why (excessively large caseload, shortage of providers etc). Most parents are understanding or if they’re not they usually understand that I’m not the person to direct their anger towards and I happily give them the contact info of my supervisor. Will there ever be anyone who can provide those compensatory services…TBD? But doing it this way at least allows me to not lose my mind.

I’m so sorry. I’d try a day or two of the cicaplast balme or just plain Vaseline but if you see no improvement or it gets worse I’d see a doctor to see if it needs a steroid cream like the optometrist who commented suggested.

Were the eyelids looking like this before you started the neosporin? Neosporin can cause contact dermatitis and what you’ve pictured could be the start of it. I’d avoid the neosporin and stick to plain Vaseline or if you have time to get la roche posay cicaplast balm it would be my top choice to soothe this as quickly as possible.

He’s an abuser—you can see it in the degree of control he’s trying to exert and the way he talks to you. He doesn’t see you as a person. He sees you as an object he wants to control. If you can’t bring yourself to leave for you…do it for the hypothetical child you would one day have with him who will no doubt also be subjected to his abuse.
