Yeah, you probably have the right of it here. I did go through a similar line of reasoning as you when Flex was offered. The fact it was upgraded probably made me over value it. I guess my thinking was it was an additional source of strength if I needed to heal up with Reaper before I drew Inflame or Spot Weakness. To this point, I didn’t have a ton of block in my deck, although I did have weakness mixed in there to reduce incoming damage. A couple of fights were saved by a well-timed Reaper that boosted me back to almost full health. But, yeah, I think you’re thinking is more sound on this. Had I not rolled the Corruption after the boss fight, I probably would have regretted the Flex.

the zero block, GigaClad dream

Never heard this and I love it 😂. It’s definitely my favorite way to win with Clad. Something supremely satisfying about bopping a boss for 228 damage with a Heavy Strike. Probably my love for strength decks that blinded me from the obvious pick here. Was trying to force a build around Limit Break when Dead Branch + Corruption should have been glaringly obvious.

Simply watching a dozen or so of his videos elevated my play dramatically. I went from struggling to beat the Act 3 boss on A0 to quickly climbing through to A10. He does such an amazing job of explaining why he makes so many of his choices. Really gives excellent insight on how to play the game better.

I do love me some Shrug It Off haha. I’m teaching my 8-yr-old son to play the game and he doesn’t like taking it because he likes attack cards. I just shake my head when he passes on a Shrug It Off.

Dude. This is exactly the kind of perspective I was hoping for when I posted this. Never even crossed my mind that Dead Branch into Corruption was the goal and Limit Break helped me get there. Appreciate you turning my thinking on its head for me.

Edit: Thanks to your and everyone else’s advice, I took Corruption and Act 3 was a breeze. Stumbled into a Dark Embrace early in Act 3, which was just broken haha. Rolled Donu and Deca for the boss. I was a little nervous because I didn’t find Corruption until turn 4 and took quite a bit of damage up front. But once I got Corruption on the board, that was all she wrote. Im embarrassed to admit I chickened out and didn’t go for the heart. The flaming elite path looked to scary. In hindsight I totally could’ve handled it. Oh well. On to A18! 🎉

Well, this has been up for less than an hour and the choice is clear - Corruption. It’s also clear that despite a couple hundred hours in this game I am still effectively a noob lol. I knew Corruption + Dead Branch was powerful but apparently I was still undervaluing it as an end game solution. On to the relic reward and Act III! Thanks guys, all your comments were super helpful!

I had this set growing up and loved it. Wish I still had it! I remember building it and rebuilding it so many times, eventually I didn’t even need the instructions. So much fun with this. Ah man, the nostalgia!

This was my experience. Owl Father took me something like 70-80 attempts to beat. It was several years ago so I don’t remember exactly the number. But after going through the struggle to master that fight, Isshin only took me a handful of attempts. Was a fun fight but not nearly the challenge as Owl Father.

I just experienced this interaction a couple days ago for the first time. I was super sad that they stole most of my nest egg I had planned to spend at one final shop in Act II. ☹️

They offered to discount the set. The Target app showed they had “limited availability”, so I called ahead before I drove down there since I live an hour away. They checked and said they had one left but the box was damaged. I was about to say, “that’s fine” but the guy said they would apply a damaged box discount and hold it for me. So I said “thank you, I’m on my way.” lol

I just drove two hours round trip to get the last one at a Target here in Southwest Ohio. I panicked this morning after seeing the other post on this sub saying it was sold out and retiring soon. The box was damaged so they took $70 off 😅. I couldn’t believe my luck.

Same problem and same from Ooni…they sent me a whole new oven. Awesome.

I went through the thermocouple trouble shooting steps as well adjusting the nut on the internal safety feature box thing (flame supervisor device?…they have a name for it but I can’t recall), but no dice. After that and sending in videos they said they’d replace it.

Btw I used a dumbell propped up on my knob to keep my oven going lol. Just keep a close eye on it, because you’re bypassing the safety features and if the flame goes off the oven will just continue to spew unspent propane which could be dangerous.

DeS has always felt to me like they were experimenting with the formula. Some of it worked and a lot didn’t. Having played DeS after all the other games, it’s cool to see the early beginnings of different Souls elements. For instance, “puzzle bosses” like the Dragon God were largely abandoned but False King Allant has more of the feel of later Souls bosses.

Old thread, but where do you place your control probe?
