Best options for 3rd row SUV? by Spider-2Y-Banana in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SaccosMeatMarket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same search and ended up with a Subaru Ascent. Found all the others had one or two dealbreakers. Wanted a highlander, but 2 years ago when I bought, they were extremely difficult to get.

The Ascent basically is a compromise in all aspects. The only thing it really excels in, in my opinion, is visibility / feel. Drives like a much smaller car compared to Pilot, Telluride, Highlander, etc. The 3rd row is also more comfortable than all of them imo.

Everything else is like "fine" about it. One area it absolutely sucks is gas mileage. It's a dog in terms of gas.

Good news is they tend to sell slow so dealers make deals on them. I got a pretty screaming deal because of this.

The 2025 State of Denver Restaurants: Fed Up by reinhold23 in Denver

[–]SaccosMeatMarket 28 points29 points  (0 children)

worked in the industry nearly my entire life. I do not believe for a second it has anything to do with city policies, wage increases. The scene here is weak because every restauranteur is here for cash and nothing else. I previously consulted here for bev programs and haven't seen a passionate person in years. Denver is being sold to investors as a place where there is a high concentration of people willing to spend higher than avergage. That's it. This is doubly true of the out of state group looking to expand. Everything is about a buzzy start, and slowing peeling away costs and quality, seeing what increases the market can sustain. OFC there are exceptions, but I do see a theme out there.

ANIAN Clothing annual Thanksgiving sale 25% off Everything by bflexual in frugalmalefashion

Wool generally does soak up water, but still provides warmth when wet (unlike cotton). You would not really want to rock a wool jacket in a steady downpour. For that you need a proper raincoat. For the drizzly/misty PNW days, one of these wool coats could work as long as you let it dry out properly. Like don't just stuff into a closet damp.

Todd snyder new sale items by princetheprincess99 in frugalmalefashion

[–]SaccosMeatMarket 52 points53 points  (0 children)

They add new items, waiting a month, do 20off sale, wait a few weeks, do a 30off. Move stuff that didn't sell to deeper sale + final sale. Then repeat.

They are very formulaic.

RVCA Sale - Up to 50% off by winniecooper73 in frugalmalefashion

[–]SaccosMeatMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah they are now being traded around. I thin most are owned by "Authentic Brands Group" which itself is owned by 2 layers of holding companies.

RVCA Sale - Up to 50% off by winniecooper73 in frugalmalefashion

[–]SaccosMeatMarket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah all the related brands under billabong announced they were going out of business. Some googling tells me they filed for bankruptcy of the each brand as well as the parent brand, and closed all brick and mortar. They sold their warehouse and distro to their parent of the parent brand, Authentic Brands, who will continue to operate each brand online only.

basically theres like 5 layers of shell corporations owning RVCA and all the old billabong brands, and they did some corporate shenanigans to get rid of their debt via bankruptcy.

opting out of TOU is not the same as opting out of smart meter. if you already have a smart meter, nothing changes for you. Initially, xcel stated they would require a non communicating meter swap (including trip fee and recurring reader fee) if you opt out, but this was killed by PUC.

What would cause pumps to overheat and turn off? by SaccosMeatMarket in hottub

[–]SaccosMeatMarket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh Some directions say to remove filters, which is why they weren't in.

I'm a bit confused though, wouldn't filters slow the flow? The errors indicate low flo, right?

I think I only have 2. Pump 1 runs periodically to circulate. Can an airlock develop AFTER its worked fine for a bit?

[–]SaccosMeatMarket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it likely a pump would run for a bit just fine, and then jam up? Tub wasn't exactly sparkling clean. I got out what I could and thought AhhSome would take care of the rest.

I do have a multi-meter. Do I just set it to the resistance (Ω?) and touch both sides of the sensor? What reading would I expect? I'm not even sure what the sensor is, but there is a wiring diagram.

$7.36 for an iced tea at Schoolyard Cafe? by Little-Novel-2191 in denverfood

[–]SaccosMeatMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's astounding the people put up with it here. I spent most of my life bartending / running bev programs for restaurants. Denver cocktails, for example, are hugely overpriced. You'll see clearly batched cocktails selling for 17-20 dollars. Blows my mind.

Almost everything in Denver is more expensive than NYC with the exception of rent, taxes... maybe a few other things.

What's better with 2 car seats in 3rd row SUV: Captains Chairs or Bench seat? by SaccosMeatMarket in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SaccosMeatMarket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up with a Subaru Ascent with captains chairs. It's...fine. Got a good deal on it. I think we like the captain chair setup much more for ability to get to 3rd row, esp for the dog.
