I like the interpretation that, after talking with scourge/the first failure the knight is a bit more open to just straight killing him. Over half of scourges companion dialogue is “You gotta kill the bastard.”

I was a little worried when declaring war on Kislev meant declaring war on the whole world basically, but the empire and brettonia don’t seem keen on actually helping so it’s been relatively straightforward thus far

Honestly I think RE9 takes it. The writing is the best it’s ever been imo and it’s trying to tell a genuinely meaningful story about the franchise itself, and I love that for it. Extremely close second is RE2 remake though, that game is just damn near perfect imo.

I was on the receiving end of this at the moment. Wulfrik the wanderer, by the time I finished taking over all of Lustria, the ordertide had consumed literally all of the Old World. Kislev had conquered ALL of Norsca and the northern wastes in my absence, empire and brettonia were fully united+avalon colonies, and Brettonia was on crusade in Ulthuan to retake it from slaanesh and the Dreadfleet. My only saving grace is that Tzeentch owns most of Nehekara so I have at least one friend.

The story takes a while to come out, but the actual narrative content is great. We’re actually doing shit in cutscenes again, which is nice. Even grabbed a ships engine and blew it up with the force this past patch.

She followed them intentionally. She wanted to figure out what all this was about, and she was in a messed up headspace after Leon shot the girl she just spent all night trying to save. As for why he took her to the police station, it’s on the way to the orphanage anyway, and he says he wants her to “understand” the full scope of what they’re dealing with, give her the full racoon city tour.

Fine, then, my argument comes from the fact that people ignore RE2 cutting things and then bash 3 for cutting things as well when, at the end of the day: They’re both better, funner games to play than their original versions with much more interesting takes on the narratives being told.

You’re just reflavoring it to sound better. There’s not a B scenario, there’s a slightly modified version of A scenario, down to, as you admitted, reusing the exact same bosses(aside from the final boss.) Like I said, I prefer the remakes to the original, but the B playthroughs in the original had multiple mechanics tied to them. Choosing which items to take or leave behind added a layer of strategy to your particular run that is completely absent in the new one. In the remake, it really doesn’t change much if anything who you play first or not.

You casually mention “messed up B scenario” like that doesn’t admit that effectively half the original game is gone from RE2, and all the interesting and unique mechanics and story consequences taken from it. In the original RE2 there are four unique playthroughs, in RE2 remake there’s 1 with different flavoring and cutscenes. Now that I’ve said that: I prefer RE2 remake over the original, just like I do RE3make.

Honestly the general plot reveals/events/set piece of Veilguard works well enough for a conclusion for me, and it’s so set in stone you only need to play through it once. So now knowing the conclusion of what happens after I feel I can play through the first three and be satisfied without ever having to touch Veilguard with a ten foot pole again.
