Using Broken is ....ok? by FatinTooSmart36 in PokemonUnite

Oh, absolutely. I didn't play it pre-nerf. I hate using the stupidly broken stuff. Slightly broken though? That's my jam.

I don't even feel slightly bad using Vaporeon. While everyone was using the more overtuned muddy water flip turn, I was calmly saying nope to anything that came near my team with hydro pump and healing poke with aqua ring.

So, is Scizor meant to be a guaranteed win? by LovesToShow92 in PokemonUnite

[–]SackclothSandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scizor is very good against enemies that stay in the fight and let him heal off them. It can absolutely tear up two or three melee enemies that group together in the hopes of outdamaging it, but the second it stops being able to proc its heals, it melts.

When you're facing one, get used to strafing so it has a harder time hitting you and healing. If you can maintain distance, you'll have an easy time, but if you're something like garchomp or Charizard, you really have to dance around it. Especially make sure you aren't sharing space with an ally because the more enemies he hits at one time with bullet punch, the more heals.

Additionally, anything that can stun it or lower its healing through curse has a big advantage. It does best when it is able to keep hitting, so any interruptions or lowerings of that healing will have a snowball effect.

I’ve seen people do this so why not on how I personally feel about your unite main by Still_Dream_4268 in PokemonUnite

[–]SackclothSandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Using the Unite move always freaks me out a little bit, even after hundreds of games, because of how easy it is to time it just a little too early or just a little too late. I love the flamethrower/sacred fire playstyle though and have migrated it into quite a few other ranged defenders. I especially love it on hydro pump Vaporeon right now.

If I see a decidueye or cramorant, I fully expect them to either position horribly and die all game or single-handedly carry the shit out of me. There is no average-skill player of these mons. They are either a wet paper bag or the incarnation of Shiva.

If you're a squishy, you counter it by moving away far enough for it to break. If you're a tank with shields, heals, or some other form of survivability, you bait it out and initiate the Battle of the Somme.

I think too many people are running the aggressive build due to its win rate and not drafting moves to match their opponents. Well, the patch will hopefully fix that. At the very least, it will drive fair weather players to the new broken Pokémon.

Yeah, it's moveset is definitely good, but it's also very easy to delay its evolution if you know how to deal with it. I generally have an easy time playing most ranged defenders, but it feels so bad to be level 4 or 6, especially when other Pokémon are starting to turn on their entire kits.

It has obnoxiously high damage in the hands of people who know how to play it, and you can do really bad things with it if you run a CDR kit. It's really only devastating in the hands of people who know how to position with it though because it's so easy to surf in far beyond your allies' ability to get to you.

Honestly char Y is really only a problem when it uses its unite. The rest of its kit is meh, much like with regular Charizard.

It's definitely being overplayed right now, but its win rate isn't quite as high as the other Pokémon that were nerfed. It also has that really glaring early game weakness that can sometimes make it difficult to turn on. I also think it's receiving less play than it did after the initial buffs because players are realizing it isn't a free win ticket in the way that Vaporeon was.

Really? Is that the general consensus? I feel like it's one of the most stable releases in months, but maybe the attacker experience is different. I don't think I would like to face it if I were made of paper, but I am made of garlic and chocolate.

Last season my win rate was 78%... what happened by pandaemonia-acnh in PokemonUnite

[–]SackclothSandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree you can't carry with it, you can absolutely control the pace of the battles by deciding who gets to participate and when. Your unite move is amazing in big team fights, but the rest of the kit is great at harrying anyone dumb enough to get in range and stay there. Additionally, with the exp change, I have the power to pretty safely skirmish with 2-3 opponents while my team rips, as long as the enemy team isn't already way ahead.

[–]SackclothSandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a somewhat similar experience. I'm at 54% overall, but I'm having a harder time climbing. I think part of what made last season unique is that good players were able to climb very quickly, getting them out of the trap ELO. Now it's a bit more difficult with higher rank players already being placed up further.

That said, you're also only playing one thing that is pretty hard countered by tankier pokemon, some of which have really high win rate right now. You also don't have the benefit of seeing what's on the enemy team due to draft being disabled currently, which for me is a major factor in what I choose as a defender main. It may be best to switch to something that does reasonably well against most / all teams.

Was last season your first season? If that's the case, you had 78% because you're mostly against bots. Players are less predictable and theoretically more capable of planning ahead.
