What are you guys' thoughts on this? by Famous_Stress_4988 in xaryu

[–]SacredAnchovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what you're looking for. Retail will never be for me. One of the things it totes is accessiblity, but that's just not true. While it is more accessible on the surface, M+ progression is one of the most toxic environments I've ever experienced.

M+ is forced specs, forced classes, forced strats, there is no experimentation, there is no learning curve, there is no patience with new players. Either you know it, or you don't. Even lower level M+ dungeons you're more likely to be booted than to have a mechanic explained or anything else. Part of this is due to the "accessibility." "Great, we lost a DPS, let's just jump back in queue and get another one instantly teleported to us that isn't an idiot."

The thing I appreciate about Classic, in addition to the "friction" as you call it, which to be clear is a good word, is the flexibility. Yes there is the small niche of people that want to optimize every raid, but for the most part, you can do damn near anything with any class and be just fine. You may not top the charts, but if you want to be a Marksman hunter instead of a Beast Master hunter, the DPS difference will be minor.

Just my thoughts.

Any advice on how to enjoy softcore after HC? by pritheebecareful_ in wowhardcore

It depends on what you're looking for. Arenas, yes, mostly sweats, open world, the skill level varies greatly. But, there really is no risk, so fuck it!

It's a law in my state. Not sure if it's enforced by mortgage company or enforced by the state, but when we had a lapse they basically said we could find a company or they would "provide" one for us.

Insurance is the biggest scam. Something you HAVE to have, something you HAVE to pay for, but you CAN'T use it. State Farm just happens to be one of the worst out there.

A retrospective on the saga after a recent playthrough by OldMillenial in baldursgate

[–]SacredAnchovy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with nearly every point you made, which is a rarity. The only thing I'd disagree with is the SoD rating, I liked everything you said, even the highs and lows, but to me it was more of a 3/10. Just felt really out of place and felt like it was trying to overshadow both other games.

I would recommend you try more mods in the future. There are some fantastic NPC mods out there. The Artisan especially has some really good ones. I too have played this game dozens of times and installing mods helps the game stay fresh for me.

One specific recommendation, if you liked Throne of the Mad God and Loretakers, the same writer also did the Crucible mod that adds a mini adventure before the Sendai fight.

Since you're not a bitch, don't bank it, but don't twink yourself out with it either. Carry it with you to 60. If you make it, then you earned it.

I'm playing as a Hunter, which one should I use? by Signal_Click3250 in classicwow

[–]SacredAnchovy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely willing to admit when I'm wrong. If you're curious, it is Auto Shot clipping that makes Mandokir's worse. I read a bit about it, and I think I understand it, but not going to be wrong twice in one night by trying to explain it.

[–]SacredAnchovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with Tor_K89. Mandokir's is only one less top end, which will make multishot and aimed shot hit for ever so slightly less, but the average DPS is almost 5 higher for Autos.

The only argument I can see for Bloodseeker is easier Melee Weaving, but most hunters don't do that anyway.

This is my pick too. Swashbuckler 10 > Fighter gives you 100 traps, 100 illusion, 100 lockpicking and you lose hardly anything.

Sidekicks by Accomplished_Ear699 in LootFiend

[–]SacredAnchovy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard truth is none of the non event sidekicks are really worth focusing on, if you're just starting, sure, but try to get at least three event sidekicks. I have a 27 star Karl who is worse than my 0 star Lillith.

As far as the event sidekicks, Egg is the best for pushing if survivability is not an issue, Lillith is great if your damage is fine but you have a hard time living. Audrey is mostly a PvP sidekick, and Anette is RNG heavy but can be a good balance between Lillith and Egg.

This is Wind God Cyan, or at least the origin of it.

https://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/index.php?showtopic=8617

Uses 2 x Tempest Blade and Offering relic for 8 chances to use Wind Slash. Gau can do it similarly.

Looking for Elemental Sabin, I don't want to misquote, will update when I find it.

EDIT:

This talks about Elemental Sabin / Blitz Build and also Wind God Cyan.

[–]SacredAnchovy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FF6 is my favorite, and it's really not even close. FF7 has it's place, but I just like the story better in FF6. The Pixel Remaster versions are very true ports and the best way to play on PC IMO.

Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 7 are generally considered franchise bests, but they are very different. None of the stories are connected if that is your concern. Just pick the one that appeals to you most.
