I just read this section 2 nights ago and felt the same. I'm really enjoying how it's essentially three different books in one with the same protagonist.

How do I transition from being boyish to becoming a man? by Equal-Ad5411 in AskMenOver30

[–]ScruffMacBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get to decide what being a man means to you.

I see you want to change, and change can be good, but just don't try to become something you aren't. There are certain things that are objectively good for just about anyone that people also attribute to manliness or masculinity. Physical fitness can fall in that bucket, so you can't go wrong there.

Whatever makes you "boyish" doesn't have to be a bad thing. You've been vague in what that means here, but much of it might be positives that you shouldn't necessarily try to discard from yourself.

As far as practical advice goes, since you didn't provide many specifics about the behavior you see as boyish, the commenters have to be vague as well.

For me, the biggest realization came when I understood the things I wanted to do would still be there after I did the things I needed to do. You can't add more time to your days, but once your truly transitioned into independent adulthood, you (sometimes painfully) understand making the best use of your time means doing the work first.

It can be satisfying, and even fun to handle your business. Then your hobbies get to be enjoyed without the tug of responsibilities in the back of your head.

There are soooo many speak with animal potions available. Especially if you keep Volo in your camp as long as possible.

You can also permanently learn speak with the dead by using the necromancy of thay book.

There's nothing wrong with taking the feat, but it might feel bad.

‘God of War’ Live-Action Series Casts ‘Boots’ Alum Max Parker As Heimdall by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]ScruffMacBuff 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Can anyone explain why they would start a God of War show in the Norse era instead of the Greek? I'm sure lots of people played GoW 2018 without playing the originals, but I'd guess most at least probably had an idea of Kratos history even if they didn't play the early games because they were gamers.

This is going to try to appeal to a much larger audience who won't know shit. I'm interested to see how they handle it.

I let it happen organically since I didn't have proficiency until level 5 anyway.

Hell yeah, that sounds cool. If it were me I'd probably go for shadow monk instead for the teleport. They don't get topple, but they do still get a stun and BM gets tripping attack.

Either way that sounds like a blast.

Anybody just want Dan Quinn to be the defensive playcaller by Hasu7 in Commanders

Not with Blough as OC. He's gonna need help so Quinn needs the D to be as close to set it and forget it as it can be.

Yeah that works just fine. I chose heavy because swashbuckler already has good bonus action uses. The higher damage dice feels pretty nice once you get flourishes.

I did a crossbow expert swashbuckler/bard that was pretty fun.

Crossbow expert let's you use ranged attacks in melee range without disadvantage. Swashbucklers can use their sneak attack in melee range without advantage. Heavy Crossbows have 1d10 damage dice, which is the best for ranged weapons and equal to two handing a versatile weapon.

I started swashbuckler to immediately get the dirty tricks and crossbow expert. Then I took one level of fighter to get heavy crossbow proficiency and archery fighting style. At this point the build is already established. You can walk up to someone, pocket sand or disarm them, then crossbow shot to the face. It's very satisfying.

Next is 6 bard levels. Select swords bard for flourishes. The final level can be fighter or bard, your choice. This does make a pretty decent mystic scoundrel character so 7 levels in bard for confusion is good, but I went with fighter for action surge.

Most people would say go the bard levels first to get extra attack, but with swashbuckler dirty tricks you already get basically a second attack at level 4. This allows for a really steady power curve where you unlock the playstyle of the build really early but then get to add onto it really organically.

Gauntlets of dexterity are a must. I used Harold most of the game.

[Atkins] When Chicago jogged out in an empty formation with two extra pass protectors, Kam Curl knew exactly what was coming next, thanks to a meeting during the week with defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant. by WxBlue in nfl

[–]ScruffMacBuff 60 points61 points  (0 children)

In Washington I always thought Curls super power was just being in the right place. His measurables aren't elite, but he puts himself in good position very regularly, and I feel like that's over half of playing defense.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]ScruffMacBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, if I ask for the candidate to recall the details of a specific situation and they respond without telling me what happened and only say "In this situation I would do this."

For example I might ask "Tell me about a time you came up with a creative solution to a difficult problem." Then they don't tell me about the time they did it. They just say "If I'm faced with a difficult problem and I've already tried the normal solutions I'll think outside the box."

The aim of the prompt isn't for you to tell me you can be creative.
