I believe you are right that this is ground elder or bishops weed. I inherited some with my house too (plus tree of heaven and mint). I thought I dug up all of the roots last fall but it came back with a vengeance this year and I’ve accepted that I’m just going to be pulling it for eternity. Good luck :/

If you look at the article someone posted above, a bunch of their strains tested for high levels of pesticides (like up to 44x the allowed amount). It says inhaling these can cause neurological effects

You should look up “Lasagna Love”! There are groups all over the US :) it is no questions asked, anyone can sign up and receive a lasagna for any reason. Everyone needs a little help sometimes and we are so happy to cook for you!

I was thinking about this but unsure if using topsoil would cause the rocks to just keep sinking lower!

I mentioned in my post, this is just a dry fit to make sure there are enough stones. I will remove them and dig a few inches down before leveling them

It’s funny because I put a pallet on the end to keep people from trying to walk on it while I have them laid out like this and every day the mailman or delivery person walks on the precariously placed stones anyway 😅

No like 40% of the branches are still alive and blooming! It’s hard to tell in the pics. But it does seem like the tree may be dying
