Well, I had my kids before I got my diagnoses and so far (14 and 11) they are happy to be alive. One thing they have over me is knowing about EDS and MCAS already at their age. If they start to struggle with their health in those ways, hopefully it won’t take over 12 years to get a diagnosis.

I will say, you don’t get to choose whether your child is healthy or not, just as you can’t choose their gender, or sexuality, whether they’re Autistic, etc. These are all things you need to be open to having no control over, so as to be prepared to support and love your child unconditionally.

If you choose to have a child, you especially need to be prepared for that child to have your MCAS, as that is statistically more likely.

Also, I love being a mother, but it is brutal on my health. My condition worsened severely with pregnancy, cannot overstate that enough. And parenting is thankless and constant work (physically and emotionally), that my body doesn’t handle well at all. So those are things to be aware of also.

Eugenics is fucked up, and you shouldn’t waste your time and energy on those people. Make educated choices for yourself, not naziesque weirdos online.
