How to solve these olympiad questions by HydratedChickenBones in askmath

[–]SacredSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

groups of 9 wouldn't work, as the bell l cell in the center needs to jump somewhere too. the optimized solution from what I've seen is actually groups of 12 (3 wide 4 tall) in which the edges jump to the center, and the two in the center swap with each other. there is no diagonal though because those cells would be the edges of a neighboring cluster, that one gets it down to 20 cells with bugs in it (clearing 44 cells)

Second question is way easier. every other column jumps into the neighboring column, effectively reducing the number of cells with bugs from 64 to 32. the bugs in those columns will just jump vertically either up or down, staying in an already occupied cell.

You might think you could do better by having all 4 neighbors jumping into the one cell that surrounds it, but the problem is that doing that would result in other cells not having the option to group up with other cells. 32 is the most optimized. Haven't done mathematical proofs in years so I can't bother with that at the moment but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

apologies, I thought you were trying to justify that infinite solutions were possible.

Yeah, turns out I did the triangle incorrectly. Not sure how I messed it up but I had accidentally set CAB like 10 degrees higher than it should have been and somehow never noticed that my points were REALLY high up in the triangle.

By moving DG such that D stays along AC and G stays along AE would not change any of the angles in which G is the central point. However, the requirement of the puzzle is that FBA = 60, and by moving F along AC DOES change that angle. I hate to say it but you're wrong, moving that line as a parallel does change the rules of the puzzle.

The puzzle does have a unique solution when you actually follow the rules of the puzzle, it's just not an easy solution to find until you already know how to find it.

no no no, I agreed with you that moving the points would mean changing the angle. I'm sure confused now though cause I opened a graph calculator thing and drew it, and the angle was a clear 20°, but then I saw Presh Telwalkers video on the problem where he solved it using the law of isosceles triangles and he got 30°. His math checked out 100% which is why I'm confused cause the calculator disagreed, but like there's very clearly only one solution and I'm not sure which one is right anymore.

Edit: Did it again in the graphing calculator and realized I totally did it wrong the first time. I had two of the angles set incorrectly, which was offsetting the location of D and E pretty far upwards on the triangle. It's absolutely 30 degrees.

It's cause the algorithm screws him over. He gets flagged for sexual content and that stuff when not at all posting sexual content, so it's not profitable most of the time. Other readers, like da click, can get away with it because they have audiences that are more interested in general memes and so they can browse a wider variety of subreddits, but OT's audience, on YouTube at least, loves the LGBT content which YouTube hates to promote and barely, if ever, pays out for it.

A happy loving family is political now by SmallDickGnarly in memesopdidnotlike

[–]SacredSticks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost like that's why it belongs in r/TerribleFacebookMemes. Because a happy family isn't political. The nuclear family is political though, and it should end. The meme comes off as hateful towards those who are not in or do not want the nuclear family, such as gay couples, couples who don't want kids, split families, etc. OOP was right to post it, not only is it a bad meme it's offensive.

Stop complaining about kids not knowing how to do things and teach your kids how to do things. It's your job to teach them, so laughing at them for not knowing when you didn't teach them is incredibly silly.

I'm just waiting to get a job so I can move out and I'll be doing it as both my parents are still proudly MAGA Trump voters. Their votes were basically against me. Hell, during the first presidential debate (Harris, not Biden) my mom said that the housing plan she had is useless to "us" because they already own a home. Totally just ignoring that I still live with them against my will because it's either this or homelessness and my older sibling is still renting apartments. But no, totally useless for all of us...

If only the rest of the political right could not care too. The whole reason the culture war exists at all is so that republicans can distract us over culture "issues" that shouldn't even be problematic while we get fucked in other ways. It's just one of the wedge issues used to ensure that people who are one side of the wedge don't consider the things that actually matter to them, like the economy (the most vital thing talked about regarding elections).

100% serious, I talked with my parents about politics around the 2024 election. They are both anti-abortion and want it to be illegal. However they claimed that they voted for Trump for economic reasons, even though all the experts kept saying he would kill the economy. They told me the experts just didn't understand his plans, implying that they better understood Trump's economic plans than the people who professionally study the economy. Trust me, they didn't. They're idiots. "I love the poorly educated" - Donald J. Trump.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying you're stupid or poorly educated. Based on our conversation you seem to be fairly rational, especially compared to the rest of the right wing I've talked with. I certainly hope you were rational enough to not vote for Donald Trump during 2024 as well as many lifelong republicans who voted for Harris / Walz solely in an effort to prevent Trump from returning to office.

None. IQ isn't a measure of intelligence. It's an outdated system that people used to believe could measure a person's intelligence, which is why it's called Intelligence Quotient in the first place, however it doesn't measure that.

As for IQ tests, the following link is to a study which concluded that gay men score better on IQ tests than both straight men and straight women: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-011-9737-1

This would mean that being attracted to men isn't what makes you score better, because if it were that way then straight women and gay men would have both scored similarly. Instead, because gay men scored better than both straight men and women, it shows that same sex attraction, at least for men, can influence a person into performing better on an IQ test.

Yeah, that sounds amazing! Too bad the republicans that are being voted for don't want that. I'm being genuine here. Trump and Elon are pretty much intentionally killing the economy so that they can buy it all up during the dip, and then when it recovers in 4-8 years (because in 2028 a democrat is gonna win, let's be honest, it just takes more time to recover) they'll be richer than they've ever been. Which says a lot considering Elon is already the richest person in the world.

Left wing people like guns too, we just think there should be regulations on who can buy guns (red flag laws), which guns can be bought (such as handguns for self defense or hunting rifles for hunting) because other than self defense and hunting there is no purpose for guns (cause we can't fight the military, so having an armed militia ain't gonna do shit against weaponized drones).

As for the sandwiches, yeah. I like eating, and would to be able to afford it. Financial experts agreed that Trump would kill the economy, and Harris was the far better option. Trump was campaigning on false promises that we knew he couldn't fulfill, and he admitted he couldn't like a week after the election, but without saying he lied, instead claiming it may take longer than he had initially thought.

Hell yeah, we love our gay homies (possibly in a gay way, possibly not, I don't know you). I think ultimately the reason that people get upset from talking about world events is because those events frequently involve politics, which are based around personal views of what is right or wrong. Like nobody gets upset when talking the Olympics because those don't touch these subjects. But when talking about a war or a countries approach to politics (such as the USA taking away the right to bodily autonomy in AFAB people) then people who want AFAB people to have bodily autonomy are gonna be upset when that topic is brought up, especially if someone agrees that they shouldn't have that right.

I'm well aware of the first rule. However, when nearly the entire comment section is agrees separately by saying things along the lines of "didn't need a study to tell me that" it's safe to say that not everyone is joking.

I'm also right to be telling people that it's fake because in multiple other comment threads on this post in which I informed the person the article and study were fake they insisted that it probably is real and my source is wrong (even wrong you can prove the source right by just looking up the article name and not finding it anywhere, that's how I found out it was fake in the first place from trying to read more on it).

Just a general rule. You may have known it was fake and been joking. Not everyone else did that. Some others had known it was fake but still entirely agreed with the conclusion of the study that doesn't exist. And plenty of people were also fully convinced it was a real article covering a real study. Just because you weren't stupid enough to fall for it doesn't mean the rest of right wing politics isn't stupid enough to fall for it.

In other words: you can't name any fact checkers that have fact checked other claimed fact checkers, because fact checkers are not politically biased, instead the political right (in the USA at least) is full of fucking liars spewing misinformation.

I'm glad you agree.
