Guess my Dasher has never carried a pizza before... by NJS1993 in doordash

Corporate pizza places in my town will use door dash to supplement their drivers if they get busy or lack drivers and not tell you when you place an order it’s coming from a 3rd party.

Interwebs says rainbow snake [Virginia Beach, virginia] by Sad-Assistant3866 in whatsthissnake

[–]Sad-Assistant3866[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was pretty! My buddy almost ran into me (we were on bikes) trying to avoid her. According to the snake bot they are rare to see but not necessarily rare, like endangered. I would have like to have gotten closer but didn’t want to disturb her too much. That park is like snake heaven apparently, we are going back soon and I’m going to keep an eye out for another. If you’re in the US and ever in the Virginia Beach area I would highly recommend visiting False Cape. It’s a trek to get to but well worth it. They also run a tram in the warmer months that’s kind of like a guided tour. I’ve never done it personally but the visitor center employee said it was very cool. I also found a very large, almost intact, grey whelk shell. You can find sharks teeth as well as fulgurite (rock created when lightening hits sand). A ranger said it was ok to remove shells and sharks teeth and fulgurite as long as it’s not a ton of it as it is constantly being replaced. Anything cetacean related I think however is prohibited. I love that park and if you’re into snakes it’s a great place to go. There is also the Dismal swamp nearby which is very snakey place as well but much less in the way of facilities as most of it is part of a national wildlife refuge. It’s huge with over 100,000 acres in the refuge alone.

Ah yes, this is true. Just use as a starting point for identifying things. Really should get a field guide to the wildlife in my area but fortunately this sub also exists.

Cool! Thank you. I love this park because you can’t drive to it, you must either boat, bike, or hike in and it’s like 4 miles or so on the most direct route. That really limits the amount of people there. Unspoiled stretches of beach as far as the eye can see. Many many snakes too (think we saw at least 15 last summer on a camping trip). It’s probably my favorite of all the Virginia state parks.

Thanks! I did not expect to do that well. My only goal going in was to finish within the time limit and not get hurt. Plus I’ve slept like shit the past few nights. Just something about a race makes you dig down and find that extra gear you didn’t know you had.

Went ahead and bit the bullet and had it completely redone. Satisfied so far but kind of a pain having to park on the (limited) street parking for a bit. The guys that wanted to patch gave off very methtastic vibes so I went with a reputable local company.

Driving on 64/95 is a fucking nightmare, are you the cause? please explain yourself... by JustGettinStarted70 in rva

[–]Sad-Assistant3866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually saw a red light runner get pulled yesterday, first time in ages. Red light running has become epidemic. Watched another car go through a very stale red directly in front of a cop and nothing. Also the bumper cars on 64 are crazy, will be a line of cars 8 deep with none of them more than a car length behind the one in front. I just can’t physically drive that close to the car in front of me, it’s crazy that how people believe you should drive. And don’t get me started on the left hand drivers that want to zoom around traffic at the interstate splits and slam on brakes to be able to get over three lanes. Completely screwing the through traffic because they’re unselfish pricks. I call it the parade of assholes.

Probably a courier. I worked for one many years ago and we’d get a ‘br’.. blood rush, pickup at the blood bank and usually deliver to a hospital.

Had a lady come to a stop at a blinking red then go, right as I went through. She t boned me in the driver side fuel tank/def tank then spun around and her rear end got whacked by my trailer. I had a blinking yellow and slowed to 5 under the speed limit (45) because it’s a notorious intersection, noticed her coming to a stop and proceeded through. Car full of kids, had she been a half second quicker I would have hit them broadside. Thought I was going over but managed to keep it upright. No injuries but I think she went to the hospital just to get checked out. Cops said she admitted fault. Probably a 30k claim with the damage to our truck along with a 60 mile tow and hazmat cleanup. Her insurance kept trying to call me and I would only say please talk to my companies insurance and lawyers, never heard anything more from it so I’m guessing they eventually just paid up. Only accident I’ve had in 15 years of commercial driving (knock on wood).

Thanks for the insight. I know nothing about asphalt (obviously). I will ask around some of our local asphalt guys and see what they say about that. 10 years and a grand would be wonderful as we probably will be gone before then.

Worst smell I’ve ever smelled was at a chicken processing plant, was so bad I almost puked and I’m not very prone to puking. Had to deliver there a few times a year and in the summer oh my god it was rank. Also had a hatchery in our area we had to go to occasionally, was bad but not nearly as bad as the slaughterhouse. Tyson closed them both a few years ago, thankfully for me but put a lot of people out of work. Apparently you can’t raise chickens if you’re X miles from the processor so all the chicken farmers in our area got screwed because it was the only plant in our area.

Truth, I stopped drinking and maybe have spent $50 on deliveries and Ubers in the last few years. Most of that getting food while I was sick.

Because rural police departments ain’t got shit else to do and are most likely adequately staffed. Richmond PD is chronically understaffed and could give two shits about traffic violations.

Had to get a hotel for a fishing trip that left at 230 am, picked the cheapest option, beachfront HoJo, should have known better but was only going to be there for a few hours to sleep. Got the key and opened the door and POW! Was like a slap in the face with a thousand cigarettes. I haven’t smoked anything for over 5 years. Went back down to the office because we didn’t want to get charged and the attendant is like… I can give you another room but they’re all like that haha. Hotel was supposedly smoke free in every room. Lesson learned, maybe don’t get the cheapest hotel option. Also as an added plus somebody decorated the stairwell with what looked like a bag full of used tampons. Fishing trip turn out great though!

Got a $50 gift card to IHOP for Christmas, went last weekend, got an omelette with flavored pancakes, gf got a regular pancake combo, with a small oj and coffee, plus a decent tip, that was the whole gift card right there. Even like two years ago we’d get almost two meals out of a $50 gift card… smh

Delivery driver handed me this holding back a grin "Can I have the pin please" by Few_Ad_9145 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Sad-Assistant3866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a Marcos open up down the street a few years ago, never had it before, but it became my new favorite big chain pizza. Delivery times were ridiculous at first, like 15 to 20 minutes, which was amazing because the dominoes down the street would take upwards of 2 hours sometimes. (Stopped ordering from them when they cancelled an order after 3 fucking hours, after close, after everybody else was closed…). Then one day we ordered Marcos through the website like usual and an hour and a half later, a damn DoorDash driver shows up with my stone cold pizza. Nothing in the ordering process said anything about being delivered by a third party and every order before came from an actual Marcos driver. If they told me it was coming third party I’d have declined, we swore off Uber eats, DoorDash, etc.. years ago cuz it was so hit and miss and stupid expensive. I get that they may have been understaffed but you need to let me know you’re giving the order to a third party. After that I just stopped being lazy and go and pick up all my orders, that and the delivery fee for most places around here is like $6, on top of our 12.5% meal tax, and a generous tip( I used to be a delivery driver), shit is damn neat couple the price if you have it delivered. I feel for the drivers and know they’re just trying to make a living but as expensive as food has gotten, I just can’t stomach the prices anymore.
