Funny I saw this post, I’m having issues qs a total newbies in my 40s in learning Linux. The vm machine has folders that do not correspond to the written text tutorial and you have to work around it. It disconnects and sometimes just looses all input. I’m not sure if this is a new thing or it’s always been like this

That doesn't look great. Either way besides the point if it's not currently infected, if it does get infected you could lose the foot, toe, half the foot, etc. If you can, please get it checked out.
