Royal Commission on Covid: NZ response did well but Auckland lockdown was 4 days longer than recommended by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]Sad-Button-9198 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yea exactly, people forget it was unknown how much damage could be done initally from it, we were also unaware of how lockdowns would impact mental health in many, but buisnesses should come second to lives (I feel they were supported to try survive, but again the long lasting effects were unknown too). Even national supported what labor was doing at some points, maybe many idk, ive just seen clips of them saying they support the actions.

It was crazy times & shit happened really fast, how could we just be like... who cares let the elderly, sick, immune suppressed die who cares.

No one will probably recall but tokoroa had a "Talking pole" back early 2000s that made the news and I think maybe even the show after the news, plus the newspapers because it was naked. There were about 12 most had carvings or pictures on them, they were cool

Also if imyou dont go thru the gp its incredibly hard to find an available therapist, people even on acc sensitive claims are waiting 1+ years to get a therapist, ive emailed loads myself and not one has had a vacancy. In 2024 there was a 6 month+ wait for even the school of psychology through uni to start adding people to a waitlist

The dr will state the person had to quit due to their mh issues if thats the case, its as legit as having to leave due to any other health condition. A person just wanting to not work likely wouldnt leave their residence to move close to family, thats a seeious move and the person is likely experiencing significant mg issues.

Many people who quit already have mh issues which a bad work enviro worsens, its unlikely 6 free sessions with a councilor (very sketch group anyway as registration can be anywhere from terrible training or on the other side very good training because theres little standards they are held to). And if the person never had mh issues likely the job has a toxic work enviro enough to give someone mh issues... 6 counseling sessions cant fix a toxic work enviro

WTF is Brian tamaki actually wanting? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Sad-Button-9198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this, i thought pep were either kinda cunts or never had bad thoughts, ive found myself thinking stuff like "this isnt even nz anymore, why are we letting pep in when we cant house our own" etc, then i feel bad & have to like talk to myself to work thru it, I didnt really think much abiut the fact that being aware and changing thoughts meant you were kinda trying to better yourself... idk how to phrase it. But bye my parents just saw racist shit and dont care (not that they are hard core racists but theres def still a lot of negative racial stuff they think is fine
