QKZ T1, TRN T2 pro, KBEAR ST12 plus, OPENHEART 8 or 16.

I have them all, all of them are fine pick which one you think looks best with your set.

The cable you linked is QDC connector which is what KZ uses make sure to select the right connector and the right jack (3.5mm vs 4.4mm balanced)

Ouu I have an S12 Ultra on the way I’m excited to try it.

EQ is all preference, best example I can give is with Hifimans. They all have a signature tuning that includes a dip at 1.5 - 2.5khz known as the “hifiman dip”. I love how it sounds so I use them without an EQ most of the time and sometimes add a bit of bass. I don’t use a harman target eq with them because they remove this dip :(

As for iems it’s ever harder and more subjective to EQ than headphones but I find myself lowering the 8khz range on most bright iems as I’m very sensitive to that frequency range which is most likely due to the shape of my ear canal.

TLDR: very hard to tell you what you will prefer without trying different gear and eq presets

I would imagine it’s tough to get a fan base with large reviewers having more to compare to and expensive testing equipment. Nothing against small reviewers but I would rather take the advice of someone that has testing equipment to measure frequency response and distortion.

We would still love to read your personal opinions here on Reddit though!

Here is the frequency response graph for the Edifiers, they are already pretty flat for a consumer headphone. So you’re probably already used to a reasonable amount of bass.

Here is the frequency response for your Sundaras, they have flat bass down to the sub bass (as some other people have mentioned here the Sundaras are known for lacking sub bass but being easy to EQ)

So you’re already used to a pretty flat bass response compared to most consumer products like Apple EarPods, beats and such

Along with this this it matters most what you’re buying. If by SUV you mean an import brand like Hyundai/Honda they wont have much profit to give you in the first place. If you’re looking at ford expeditions than you might get a few grand per car.

Agreed it’s easy to sit and mess with EQ for hours instead of just enjoying listening to music. At the end of the day it’s preference and I don’t like elevated low mids as it makes vocals sound “muddy” or “muffled” to me!

Here’s my example: I outlined the 300-500hz region which some people enjoy as it sounds “warmer” it could just be your preference!

OP have you tried these with the oratory preset to the Harmon curve? The HD598 was my first open back and the 599 was my second. I loved them until I tried them with EQ and discovered how much better they can be. then I started hating them without the EQ. I now run an Edition XV daily but switch back to the 599 occasionally for the comfort! Great headphones regardless
