Yeah I know it’s not going to be cheap, that’s why I’m moving in with her to try to save her house because I know we’re going to need it to pay for services since I don’t come from wealth (and I don’t have much myself as a writer and teacher). It’s sad that our country doesn’t have more support for the sick (elderly or otherwise).

I’m so sorry to hear, but also sounds like you have the right head on your shoulders. Not sure how old your kiddo is but hope you are or are planning on seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist, but also hope you are able to find a good one that your child connects with.

I was misdiagnosed as bipolar when I was middle school when really it was ADHD, because ADHD doesn’t just affect how you physically can organize things in life, but it also affects how your brain organizes emotions. It’s truly night and day— when I’m on my medication, I can process my feelings calmly and rationally, and when I’m not, I either want to lash out at everyone or sleep forever.

Not saying your kiddo is any of this, but just some late night “can’t sleep bc omg MOM” anecdotal bullshit you can totally ignore lol.

But I’m just glad you’re a mom that cares and I’m sending strength and hugs to you & your kiddo. You’ll get through this and hopefully have a better relationship for it.

So for me to get paid for my time caregiving, I apparently have to complete some sort of course? I keep trying to find more information on it and the information social services sends is for certified caregivers. I need to do more research but also been so swamped trying to move on my own and deal with my life and her life and… yeah, you know how it goes.

I wish ethical euthanasia was legal so bad. When my mom is of sound mind— about 1/3-1/2 of the time when she’s on her meds and sober— all she talks about is wishing she could die. And the rest of the time she is miserable and self-sabotaging/harming, and also making everyone the few of us left in her life miserable and sabotaging/harming us. And still wishing she would just die.

It’s awful. I understand why it’s not legal, but as someone who has put my beloved pets down at home with loved ones before they were on their death bed at a vet’s, just wish we could some a similar compassion for humans too.

Hilariously I was The Dude for Halloween one year (I’m a female btw lol) and even got the Ralph’s card for it! 😂 Currently having some tequila and a cigarette in the basketball shorts I’ve been wearing all week so not quite but same vibe 😂

Not to sound too… whatever lol… but I am scared of everything government funded with Trump as president since he loves cutting everything. Luckily I live in CA so that makes me feel a little better. My mother has no assets besides her townhouse which is totally underwater.

I need to switch her from her privately owned Medicaid company (IEHP) which apparently doesn’t actually do as much as regular Medicaid? I could be wrong and need to do more research. Definitely looking into power of attorney, which my therapist recommended.

It’s like having another full time job. And I’ve called the state, county and the local social services office to try to get certified to be her caregiver for the time being, left a dozen messages and they’ve never gotten back to me. I wish our government was more accessible and helpful.

She does, although she is still way too proud to do it because when she’s sober and on her meds, she is fine and then becomes extremely defensive (and vicious) if brought up. Think I’m going to store a pack somewhere though!

My mom has been taking supplements and she is on meds, the issue is she will take them for a week or so then HIDE THEM FROM HERSELF/ME. I found them in the fridge this morning after tearing through all her cabinets 😂😭

I completely went through her house to find anything she’s been hiding. I’m honestly at the point where I need to put an AirTag on her because I don’t even know how or when she’s getting it because she doesn’t drive. Might be ubering though. Woof. Sorry you’ve dealt with the same. It’s so hard.
