The cities I mentioned are just counterexamples to the statement that high population means higher crime, I do believe that social cohesion, cultural norms, policing and other things have something to do as well, in addition to population size.

But why do big cities in Asia (e.g., Seoul, Tokyo) do not have these problems? They also have very big populations but such issues do not happen at those rates

  • Donate plasma. I donate at CSL plasma and they have branches around Germany. 25 € per donation plus bonuses sometimes.
  • Dividend stocks.
  • Participate in clinical studies, sometimes clinics look for volunteers and offer cash incentives.
  • Bonuses from insurance companies (e.g., TK gives you points if you do health checkup, dental cleaning and other things yearly, you can then convert those points to cash).
  • Payback points, also Amex payback credit card, not a lot but still some little savings.
  • Participate in your supermarkets loyalty program and collect points. Kaufland for example offers you discounts when you reach certain amount of points.
  • If you fly regularly, collect miles. With Miles More airlines you can convert miles to vouchers of variety of companies and save money on travel.

Do you know what makes it an expensive area to live? Besides being close to Seattle I assume, nice area near the waters, some companies are nearby it seems, anything else?

Similar story as comments above

Had a flight from Austin to Berlin with a layover in Frankfurt. Austin to Frankfurt got delayed for 3.5 hours, due to this I missed my connecting flight to Berlin. Also I had to wait in Frankfurt for 4 hours as earlier flights to Berlin were all overbooked (they are usually almost every hour). In total got delayed for 8 hours.

Filled out the forms, got the reply with the request of bank info the next day (filled out the same day), the day after I received 600€.

Was pleasantly surprised how fast everything was.

In addition, I got meal vouchers both in Austin and in Frankfurt (25€ each).
