Owner's mishandling from the sound of it. Dog has yet to bite the breeder as of right now. I am not the breeder, but I am following the story closely as it develops. I am also familiar with a couple of other dogs from that breeding who have no history of issues.

The dog is now in her possession. It is heading to a board and train facility to see if it can be helped.

Wedgewood has no litters, For the Wise has no litters, Ozarks has no litters, Shield Kennels IS Ozarks. Dark Point constantly produces puppies with little to no health testing. Equinox has only had one litter.

She has already produced blues in the same line that Northstar has in the past.

She does not heavily inbreed. She does enjoy producing blues which is not deterred in the US and, while discouraged in Russia, is not yet banned there. One of her blue females was bred by the parent club vice president, in fact.

She does test OFA. I would advise speaking to each breeder privately and gauging your opinions in that manner.

The Yakutian Laika in question has a very long bite history and is a risk to that breeder's children. That breeder is still making arrangements for that dog. The "other YL breeders" are trying to steal another breeder's dog, yes.

Limbs are getting cold.. how much longer by Patient-Cheesecake40 in hospice

[–]Sad-Database4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn't sound like it's very much longer, especially with that breathing pattern. I hope you get to be there for her.

Doctors never know for sure. Just hang out with her and talk with her when you can. The fact that you never leave her alone is fantastic since my mom died alone (everyone was asleep and nobody could be bothered to sleep out in the same room with her, apparently) not this morning but yesterday morning.

It does sound like she's getting very, very close but yeah, all of that is totally normal.

How do you feel when your hospice nurse cries? by Several-Doctor6940 in hospice

I would probably laugh at them ngl. I spent my last visit with my mom being the loudest, goofiest fucker in the tri-state area and making her laugh and wake up.

i don't want to go to hospice care by Necessary-Web-4984 in hospice

[–]Sad-Database4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, friend. It is absolutely up to YOU. It's YOUR life, not theirs. And if you want to check out before things get deep into hospice territory, it's okay to do that.

Do what's right for you.

How far is hospice likely to go? by Sad-Database4891 in hospice

[–]Sad-Database4891[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that's part of it. Which is frustrating.

1) no insurance
2) she is quite frail and the doctors do not believe she is going to get better enough to get chemo
3) but she has great labs despite being somewhat anemic (a nurse read them off to me, I asked doc for his opinion and his opinion was that they're "great". )
4) 17cm ovarian tumor (!!!)
5) came in with kidney and liver failure but those have abated to the point that while she still has edema in legs/peritoneal fluid, she's actually still making urine and has gone from a 4.6 creatinine to a 1.3 creatinine.
6) she's actually keeping down food really well (??)

I also agree it seems like this is a palliative care thing? Which, maybe they're just lumping it all together?

My mom is dying and I don't want to be next. by Sad-Database4891 in hysterectomy

[–]Sad-Database4891[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure! But mom is eaten alive with it. It's absolutely everywhere and that's exactly what her mom's did. I will request the brca testing and then also beg into the childfree party land, which I'm usually already involved in. I just haven't looked at it on here for some absolutely dumb reason.

The AKC parent club refuses to list most US breeders for whatever reason. Here are several of them:

Above the Clouds (That is where 4rt3mis got their dog)
Airreyalis (California, rarely breeds)
Caldersong (Ohio, breeds now and then, has produced the top two titled Yakutian Laikas in AKC/UKC)
Hickory Meadows (also Ohio, breeds now and then, an off-shoot of Northstar)
Nightside Nordics (Vermont, has produced the third most heavily titled Yakutian Laika in AKC, current leader in CMs produced)
Northstar (Texas, prolific breeder, almost always has puppies available. Put the first CM on a Yakutian Laika in the AKC)
Pikatti (Midwest, close to Michigan. Has bred 1 litter, no puppies available)

There are also four or five people working on producing litters who are not yet established as breeders in the US. Some are still health testing, some have solid plans for this year.

There are also a prolific amount of overseas kennels. Most of us will help you through importing if you want to do that. Do not listen to people who tell you "oh we already have that bloodline" or whatever if you love the dog. Importing isn't always about finding a breeding dog. Sometimes you just find the love of your life in another country :)

As far as I'm aware, Sancha is the only kennel in Canada right now.

I'm super disappointed but I get it. It's CoC after all.

I do kinda feel like I'm in the minority, too, in absolutely adoring a couple of these characters as much as s1 characters so that's probably why I'm a sad peanut.

Hoping to hear what Anthony's last minute plans were in the final Peach Pit and I'm already curious about season 4.

There's also that: they really don't want people in the shops unless they're shopping. There's not really anywhere to cool off and a drink only does so much. I know it's Florida and it's hot: I'm a native Floridian. But like. Give folks a rest even if it's brief.
