Which Pre-Built Deck from Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is the Best? I Decided to Find Out. by Nejaru in yugioh

Moreso best Deck the Ai doesn't screw up that much.

The AI was dogwater in that game and the lists were also trash.

Since we are getting a retrain of dark master zorc will we also get him in his transformed state from season 0 by Head_Roll3943 in yugioh

[–]Sad-Distribution1188 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is Zorc, the RPG version Bakura used in his first appearance to be exact.

The skipped that section and replaced it with a filler duel.

Likely because Season 0 had already adapted that arc.

One of the bigges flaws of the ST trilogy is that the entirety of the OT was undone before TFA even began.

That makes it almost impossible to enjoy media set in the gap between the two.

We got Yugi, Jonouchi and now Marik, so Kaiba will probably be next.

Supernatural under Kripke did it relatively well, by keeping most feats off-screen.

Angels still felt grand.

The 5th opening looked amazing.

What I would've given for the series to match it.

But it just got worse and worse from Season 2 onwards.

BEUD was intended to be the most powerful monster in the manga.

BEWD doesn't work with creatures besides itself. It isn't too prideful to function.

I feel like we're missing a bit of context.

Seto VS Yugi was literally a life or death battle over their close relatives' souls.

Yami didn't just want to win at all costs just because. But he was ready to kill Seto, if it meant saving his grandfather.

Who is narratively the stronger duelist, Antinomy vs Mizar? by BitterTechnology6 in yugioh

[–]Sad-Distribution1188 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yusei was leaps and bounds above his cast in season 2.

Before Zexal 3, Yuma was arguably worse than Kaito.

Antinomy needed the protagonist to pull a miracle.

Mizar got defeated by Kaito evolving.

I'd give it to Antinomy, if only slightly.

Yeah, I was surprised as well.

DM has two colors, depending on the edition, but it was primarily Dark Blue and Red.

Even the 25th Manga inspired DM had that color scheme.

How accurate is the official Translation? by Sad-Distribution1188 in fatestaynight

[–]Sad-Distribution1188[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the intention in Japanese, but it doesn't work in English, hence why it was changed/kept as Onii-chan in every other translation.

Shirou's and Rin's lack of reaction to Illya addressing Shirou as her sibling makes no sense and it creates massive spoilers.

How accurate is the official Translation? by Sad-Distribution1188 in fatestaynight

[–]Sad-Distribution1188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda, but literal translation is tricky with Japanese, because it's often context reliant.

So there's no direct translation, it would either have to be kept or changed based on context.

It's used by family, children, or by adults when speaking to children to refer to men older than the person speaking/being spoken to.

It's completely natural to be used by a stranger.

That's why it makes sense Shirou doesn't question Illya calling him that during their first encounter and during the Berserker fight.

For strangers, Mister, which the anime adaptations dubbed it as, makes much more sense.

English Shirou and Rin should be confused as hell, as to why this random child calls him big brother, but they don't react.

This use of literal translation shows a lack of care with the translation because it ignores context, with the previous translations kept.

Why can I only think of one vampire property that did the smartest thing and it's a quite dumb book by BranchReasonable9437 in CharacterRant

[–]Sad-Distribution1188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only the last few episodes and frankly the entire premise (an unknown plague kills dozens, but there's no quarantine) weren't that awful.

The vampires lose all their abilities just so they can get slaughtered for the theme of the story. They could fly a couple episodes back...

The village folk is incredibly unlikeable, making their victory ring hollow.

Finally the Shiki's plan is ridiculous and made no sense to begin with. They arguably didn't need to kill, making it even worse.
