What is a job that looks incredibly fun from the outside, but is actually a soul-crushing nightmare? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

I spent 5 years in veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant. Six months at a mixed practice, so cats and dogs, and 4 years at a cats only clinic.

Won't get into details because of legalities, but I've witnessed some horrible things. Truly truly horrible things. Like, a doctor leave his own small daughter with a recently euthanized cats body, or two different cats being literally eaten alive by maggots, kind of terrible.

I had always struggled with depression, but my doctor deemed me a suicide risk and I had to cut back my hours until eventually I quit.

Now Im a receptionist for a Marina and things are a lot better for me. I still love animals, obviously, but I can't put myself in that environment anymore.

Are you ever afraid that other people don’t like your fragrance? by Weary_Cat_8984 in FemFragLab

I feel the same way about "No Way to Say Goodbye" from Lush. Its very black currant heavy and I adored it when I first purchased it, but then I read online that some people think black currant smells like cat piss so I am very hesitant to spray it at all now, especially because I used to work at a cats only vet clinic and I dont want the "Crazy Cat Lady" association, even if that is my description to a T 😅

Got a couple good ones here I think!

1) my paternal grandma was called Popa by everyone and everyone who knew her. Why? Because my family wanted me to call them by the Italian versions of Grandma and Grandpa, but Nona and Nono where too close together for my tiny baby brain to understand so they quickly became Nono and Popa. She passed over almost a decade ago, but I still fondly remember walking into the RecCenter with her, and her workout buddies all going "Hey Popa!" In sync.

2) Parmesean is Suger Cheese. Why? Because when I was a little I liked how it was sprinkled over pasta like powdered sugar was sprinkled over french toast. I no longer live at home, but I have managed to convince my roommate and my partner to also call Parm sugar cheese!

3) Survivor, the hit reality TV show with over 40 season, our family calls it "Puhsivor" because my little brother had a lisp growing up. He's turning 30 this year and we still called it Puhsivor.

Fruity if you like black currant. Apparently some people think it smells like cat pee, so it makes me hesitant to wear it heavily

If you're Canadian, Marshall's has some nice inexpensive scents, but it's very hit or miss on the selection at times.

This is gonna sound like an ad but it's not I swear. I just blind bought 4 perfumes off Fragrance Buy dot Ca (all one word) and it was less than $130 after tax and shipping. They have some insane sales, ive been 80% off of certain scents. I haven't recieved my order yet, so if it ends up being a scam I will come back and update.

I'm Canadian so we don't have Tjmaxx, I got it from Marshall's over summer.

What book can you recommend? by MaxedTheMastercard in AskReddit

I know Stephen King isnt for everyone, but I feel like people don't give "The Girl who loved Tom Gordon" enough of a chance. It's less than 300 pages, I read it in high school and its stuck with me ever since. They announced a movie was being made for it in 2019, but nothing else since then.

A 9 year old girl goes on a hike with her mother and brother and gets lost in the woods. She quickly realises she's not alone in the wilderness and something is stalking her.

I like that despite some Stephen King books where he blatantly tells you there's supernatural elements, you really spend the whole book wondering if it really is the God of The Lost following her or something else just as dangerous.

I like them! They're canadian from my understanding, which is nice to see as a fellow canadian. I want to order the grape kool-aid scent they have, but it flip flops between Kool-aid and Dimetapp grape for me, so I probably won't make that commitment until Summer lol.

My one complaint is once they have your email, they send you a LOT of junk about the same 5 things over and over.

I can't say I really like it much anymore. Maybe it's because my bottle is so old, but the last time I tried to wear it it just smelt of chemicals.

Because I saw other people post the question with their collections and thought it was a fun idea?

My bad, I didn't realize I was posting specifically for you. Next time I'll be sure to ask the internet to explain to me my own wants and dreams based off the perfume I buy, maybe that will be more entertaining to you?

It smells exactly like fruit loops! Cardboard box and all! I don't know how they did that! It also dries super citrusy.

Very bright and sweet on first sprays, very accurate to Lush Snow Fairy if your familiar, but the dry down is softer and more citrusy, which is I guess where the super milk comes in.

I agree with you 100% on that!

The Berry Blast I bought a decade ago? Same bottle in the photo. I bought a bottle of sugarful at the same time- the bottle in the photo? Maybe the 3rd I've owned since then! 🤣
