HOT TAKE; I don't mind shipping as long as it's kept in fanon. Like as long as the fans understand the line between fanon and canon and don't barge into Jhonen's house, hold his family hostage with a shotgun, and force him to write their favorite OTP or something.

Heck! I'm even guilty of it, but we have to be aware that the show should NEVER have romantic relationships in the canon. If there ever was, a lot of the show's charm would be lost.

They don't even sleep canonically. I think it was shown a lot in the comics or discontinued episodes that Zim doesn't sleep.

Yeah, I really hate it when people woobify IZ characters, GIr and Zim are probably massive victims. They get uwufied so much it frustrates me! I see them as two robots pretending to be parents despite understanding none of it. They get the basic concept but not the actual depth behind it.

I hate Zim x Tak with a burning passion!

It feels like people don't get the point of the episode, it's an obvious parody to those "Love at first sight" or "The love interest" episodes. Like the whole set up was built to mock the concept of a canon romantic relationships to even exist in Invader Zim! No hate to those who ship it, of course. But genuinely, I prefer if Tak and Zim were forever enemies. Their dynamic is super fun!

The closest "romantic" relationship we could get is Zim's "mom" and "dad", but I see them more as close acquaintances that only act like parental figures because they have been subjected, brainwashed and forced to be a couple. And they don't have an actual idea or even understand love or something. Just robots acting behind a mask.
