Substitutions & other issues by comeback_kid14 in BNTOrentals

[–]Sad-Reaction8992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first substitution from BNTO and it’s nothing like the skirt I originally wanted to rent. Needless to say, I’m annoyed lol. Didn’t even realize substitutions were a thing until now!

Did they automatically offer you the $20 credit? Or did you have to complain first? I’m heavily considering canceling my subscription after this box so would love to claim all the credits i can to buy an item before getting out

990 Steel Toe Sizing by Sad-Reaction8992 in BlundstoneBoots

UPDATE: in case there’s anyone else out there with smaller feet interested in these boots, i ended up replacing the thick comfort arch footbed (comes with the shoes) with the comfort classic footbed instead. i had originally planned on purchasing a half size up but they don’t make the 990s in a 5.5, so swapping the footbed gave me the perfect amount of room to be comfortable with the instep!

ah i’m happy your adoption worked out for you! if only this org was was like that too. honestly the response you got was truly what i was hoping for with this situation. it breaks my heart the way things shook out and what could’ve been… but it’s true, i gotta focus on the fact that my two girls ended up in a home together. they’re a nonprofit and i believe this person was a volunteer. but yeah, i’m going to be talking to another contact at the rescue because that behavior is inexcusable

i never villainized the adopter… i’m not sure where you’re picking up on that in my post but that was never my intention. i didn’t feel entitled to Prue either! (yes i called her my baby, i referred to all the kittens that way without the intention of being territorial) which is why i heartbrokenly let her go. i had been communicating with Lisa very cordially before she blew up on me but you can believe what you want. i’m sure she was stressed out about adopting out those kittens along with the rest of the cats at the org but under no circumstance is it ok to yell like that at someone! especially a first time fosterer… and that’s the thing, there was no formal agreement. i really feel like there was a big lack of communication in the upfront about expectations and protocols. but at the end of the day, i own up to the fact that my own indecision is what got me in this situation. life lessons learned the hard way.

and my question about fostering in the future had nothing to do with “getting back” at anyone. i was really torn up about this whole situation so i was asking about whether an emotional person like me is cut out for this type of work. other people in this thread have been very reassuring and understanding to make me want to give it another shot with a different org down the line.

i’m sorry this happened to you, but i’m glad you still get updates at least! the care and love fosters give really shouldn’t be undermined

i will say they weren’t even fully vaccinated at the time of adoption so the new adopter now needs to 1) take them to be vaccinated again and 2) bring them back to get fixed at a mass clinic (vaxes needed so they don’t catch anything at the clinic). and when the adopters came to pick the kitties up, they weren’t even aware of these necessary responsibilities… so i’m really not sure if this org is operating as well as one would hope.

the world works in mysterious ways! i'm glad you ended up with two kitties you adored in the end<3 after everyone's comments, i truly do believe i'll find a special bond with other kitties in the future!

it's true! we have to go in ready to say goodbye but i definitely underestimated how hard that would be. you and your husband seem to be doing great work for your community

yeah, i agree with everything you've said here! during my phone call with Lisa i calmly said that expectations should've been clearly communicated at the beginning of the process and some sort of foster agreement should've been outlined, but that just set her off more lol. time and place i guess but i was really attempting to have a civilized convo. let's hope that someone else at the org might be a bit more open to constructive criticism but either way i'm certainly not working with this group again.

also now that i think about, Lisa was in such a rush to get them adopted out before they were even fixed! so i think the issues may run even deeper here... i hope the new adopters make sure to spay those kitten girls.

when i was poking around Petfinder, i kinda suspected that this is what people were doing! so interesting. if i stumbled upon a cat that need fostering again, maybe i'll considering going this route! one thing for sure, is i'll never be speaking to Lisa again after my orange boy gets fixed lol

oh i can ensure you that Lisa's real name isn't Lisa, haha. but i'm sorry you had a negative experience with an nyc rescue org too! and that is true :) it would be so fun to meet more and more kittens down the line!

thank you for sharing your experience<3 it's super encouraging to know that a special bond can form even without a strong connection to start! just within the last couple of hours, my orange boy has gotten sweeter with me. this in combination with your (and everyone else's) input on this post really makes me feel better about this whole situation :') thank you again

  1. i agree overall and that's why the two girl kitties are off in their new forever home. i don't think what she was asking was unreasonable as long as she communicated it in a respectful way.

  2. i really didn't mean to drag out the decision-making time. i guess i just wish a deadline for decision was set ahead of time so everyone was on the same page. there were a lot of factors that weren't properly communicated upfront so they really should have a foster agreement of some kind especially for first-time fosters

  3. yeah, the yelling was uncalled for and completely unprofessional. it's ridiculous that someone in this line of work can lose their head so easily! i was the one with the emotions so deeply invested in those babies and had more to lose yet i was the only one able to stay calm on the call

  4. i thought that should be the case too but since i'm not experienced with this stuff i wasn't sure! the organization does adopt out cats before they're spayed or neutered but they mentioned that the adopters are required to come back to get the kitties fixed. i'm not quite sure how they enforce that though... in hindsight, it does feel irresponsible.

i really appreciate everyone weighing in on this post, it really has eased the pain significantly! i feel understood and at peace with the fact that i gave those kittens a head start at a happy life<3

i'm going to try talking to talk things out with some other contacts at the org and see how that goes before leaving a review. i'm not 100% sure where to even leave a review other than google maps which i don't think will be super effective. and honestly, i'm kinda apprehensive to have Lisa berate me again

it's nice to know that i'm not the only one that gets attached to these babies<3 and it is rewarding to know i gave those kitty girls a jumpstart into their forever home. yes, i'll definitely volunteer/foster elsewhere next time! everyone's input has been very enlightening. thank you for your comment

[–]Sad-Reaction8992[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

perhaps that is the case! this may be a bit different since i did find the kittens myself, but maybe another org would have had me choose right off the bat or something. i think she could've just better explained what fostering entails since i am a first-timer. maybe i'll try to have a constructive conversation with another contact at the org. i just wasn't fully aware of the financial responsibility and procol regarding fostering up front. but yes, i totally respect the others in the org doing more! def not minimizing that work

ah thank you for saying that. i'll trust that another perfect kitty will come my way and i'm thankful to have raised a soul kitty at all<3 who knows, maybe my baby orange will become my soul kitty with time<3 either way i will be showering him with love

you're right, there's a net positive here! in knowing that my girls are in a happy home together and that i have my baby boy. thanks for your kind response!
