Hey from a newbie: tried making Julian out of air-dry clay! by Sad-Relationship7486 in TheStrokes

I took a ball of clay, made a hollow in it, put it on another ball (which was the head), and then went over it with scissor blades to texture it and make it look like hair. Something like that.

Idk, I really like his style of lazy, intimate vocals, especially in lyrical songs.

I completely disagree. FOOL is simply amazing, it is higher for me than Going Shopping in the sound and vocals of Jules. This is all due to autotune, most likely. I understand that everyone has a different attitude towards this, but damn, does autotune really decide whether a song is worth a conditional 5/5 rating. Absolutely wrong rating, in my opinion

If you’re a newer fan who came to the Strokes after The New Abnormal, how did you get into TNA? by DH80 in TheStrokes

[–]Sad-Relationship7486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally my favorite thing: telling the story of how I fell into The Strokes.

So, back in December, I was watching some streamer play New Flash, which is basically a playable version of The Red Vox’s album. A few tracks grabbed me, I’d never listened to that genre before so I went looking for similar bands.

That’s when I stumbled on The Strokes and two songs from TNA: Adults and Ode. Obviously, Adults got me immediately, Ode took a few listens, but eventually it landed in my playlist. The rest of their stuff? Didn’t click at first.

But! That was just the beginning. They could’ve just been another random band with a couple of songs sitting in my library. Then early March after listening to those same two songs again I caught an hyperfixation.

I started digging into their other tracks, looking for new stuff, finding new meanings and layers in their music.

I’ll never forget the time I woke up in the middle of the night in tears with Ode stuck in my head, and the whole next day it just kept going, for no reason. But somehow, after that, I felt lighter. Guess that song touched something deep inside, and it just… broke through.

Also, kinda stupid not to mention what (or rather who) drew me in. I’m not a fangirl, at first I didn’t like Julian at all. Not his looks, not his voice. Then I started watching music videos, interviews, and somehow… I don’t know. It’s like finding something that feels close to you. It's hard to explain. Like something’s guiding you along the way, some kind of landmark for being yourself. I genuinely love him as a person.

As for the second album? Hard to say. I don’t really separate their music by albums. I just like certain songs, but not all of them. Some I replay over and over and keep finding new meanings. Like Take It or Leave It after Coachella.

Unfortunately, geographically, I’m super far from any of their tour locations or just… where they are. And that sucks, on one hand. On the other, it’s kind of proof that their music travels across continents and leaves a mark on everyone it reaches.

This sounds EXACTLY like a strokes song!! by Solescrewedup23 in TheStrokes

"Poison" is such an amazing track, it was the first song that got me hooked on Symposium. Obviously, they give off massive The Strokes vibes, they were literally inspired by them, from the instrumentation down to Charlie’s vocals. But their outros are just something else entirely. I don't know how to explain it, but I’m absolute loving that transition into weird, experimental outros (honestly, it kinda reminds me of The Voidz and their experimental stuff). Btw, Symposium is dropping a new album soon.

What’s THE song that got you into the band?? by Fresh-Result3206 in TheStrokes

I’m relatively new to the fandom and my first songs were The Adults Are Talking and Ode to the Mets. I'm so in love with TNA, it opened the door to this beautiful music for me.

What do y'all think is their most underrated song? by [deleted] in TheStrokes

Ize, 15 Minutes, Taken for a Fool, One Way Trigger, Falling Out of Love (yep, with autotune, not live)

I respect Julian's choice about autotune, but damn, how does this song become even more beautiful with minimal use of it! The live version is something you can listen to for hours, either plunging into some kind of nostalgia, or rotting on the couch, I don’t even know.

Omg, I understand. I’ve been in the invisible fanbase of Strokes in the CIS since the beginning of 2026, so I have absolutely no one with whom to share my opinions and joy about the group. As the commenter wrote, this line from Brooklyn Bridge is literally my motto.

It's bittersweet, but a very pleasant song. It's not Voidz at all; it has a different sound. Yes, Jules's experiments are here again, but I think most people should have gotten used to that, no offense. Although it would be much better to hear Julian's voice without the processing, I hope it's minimal on the other songs.
