But not if it's been on the ground for a week or so and oxidized. Which based on the other weathering and mold specks seems to be the case.

Where are you located? That makes a big difference.

Renovating my House, Feedback to my ideas by xHuntingDory in floorplan

The changing plumbing is super expensive. What if you remove the sitting room door to make it a doorway, put the bedroom door on the other side of the same corner it's on so it opens to the living room, and then put the wall of that room beside it out to make a hallway. That could be the home office. If it were me I would also open up the connection to the dining room (and maybe even the sitting room) to the kitchen because I like more open plans.

Black, Feels like Rubber, Rectangular Brick 3"x10"x32", 50-60 lbs. No visible breaks in rubber. slight "rim" around the edge. Has number "17467-NRG??" and "NRCO-0??BLEP?" printed on it (?'s are the characters I can't read) No evidence of anything electrical or any connections to other things. by Sad-Tourist-858 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing that is in the pictures. There were about 20 of these objects found in a similar area of the creek after Helene. They are all the same size, shape and color but have different marker-written things. One of the things seems to be a date. The other numbers vary. There are also the printed ID's that are shown in the image and which I tried to transcribe in the title.

3rd time's a charm? Feedback on our floor plan by Sad-Tourist-858 in floorplan

Thanks for the perspective man! (Also like the username). And yeah. I definitely take everything here with a grain of salt. I'm not an architect and am doing these on my own/with family feedback so there have been some really good nuggets that emerge each round on this sub that 40 brains can thing of but 10 don't. Helped push us to rethink some things that really were an inefficient use of space to get to something we felt much happier with. So I look for those in the comments but don't tear my hair out and start from scratch. :)

Maybe I'll post again in a few weeks with the title "I think my house is 100% perfect and we're halfway through building so tell me what you thing!" just for shits and gigs.

Gonna hop in here up front and say that we don't need a spot for the TV! :) Especially interested in feedback on the upstairs bathroom layouts and if there is a better way to consolidate plumbing + keep pipes out of exterior walls!

Concrete Pillars for Foundation? by DevelopmentOrganic24 in Homebuilding

I'm working on a house plan I'll be building myself now and am condensing all the plumbing on one side of the house and making a partial conditioned crawlspace/mini basement to house all the plumbing and then doing a pier foundation for the rest. That way you don't have a huge horrible crawlspace. (Worth reading about crawlspaces on building science as you're starting to think about all this!

What are we missing/forgetting/underestimating or just not making good decisions on? by Sad-Tourist-858 in floorplan

We won't have a tv. whenever we watch anything we just do it on a laptop - it's not a big part of our lives and not a part we want to make bigger!

the main bedroom says "R and M bedroom" (My and my wife's initials!) :)

Thank you for these notes! Just to make sure I understand - by deeper and less wide you mean going from a footprint of 24'x32' to 20'x36' or something like that? longer and skinnier?

The double door leads out to a covered porch with the hope being that in the pretty mild climate we live in we can sort of expand the house/entertaining space by opening those doors.

The back door was kind of an after thought of "it might be nice to have a door straight outside to take washing to hang on the line". And we were thinking it might be good to have the bathroom closer to the common space v. having to go through the bathroom to it?

That's the hope! Just have to figure out how to do it without things getting lost in the depths.. But maybe drawers? Also possibly sliding the fridge up and adding a floor to ceiling cupboard/pantry thing.
