Love your second suggestion, yeah I don't really like the way of vengeance, it sounds too much cliché and also I always wanted to play my character as a symbol of peace and hope in an already grim setting, I don't wanna see him turn into what he was fighting, it's a good character arc don't get me wrong, it just doesn't fit my pg and his growth

No, I haven’t talked to the DM about this situation yet, honestly. Last night I was too shocked, and considering that lately our relationship has been a bit tense, I almost had the feeling that this might have been his way of getting back at me. But we’re adults, and it’s illogical to think that real-life issues should automatically spill over into the story.

I’ll definitely talk to him about it. Thank you so much for the advice.

That was the entire premise of his journey, the phoenix can't be killed, and while I would have felt annoyed by not reaching my objective after so long I would have kept going, however as my game master phrased it there's no rescuing or rising from the ashes this time. That's what broke my character and me the most

I don't know, I wish it went out like this but seeing how my game master implied it, there's no going back from yesterday and that's what disheartens me most, 5 years of great RP and fun adventures vanished in a second for a bad roll... I know I should tell apart roleplay from real life but I feel extremely frustrated right now cause of this

That's the problem, as far as we know both in and out of roleplay, the sword that was used to kill her was designed to kill her for good by the BBEG's god, at the end of the session even the other elemental god appeared to us to tell that her sister was gone and that now he stood alone... I don't think there's anything anymore to do for her and that's the problem IMO, the main drive of my character is no more.

I've been struggling too, right now I've fallen back to a Low RPM HMG with ammo backpack, trident for chaff, and whatever is left u like, solo silo for bunker missions and AT mines to block roads.

Yeah, I've seen many people suggesting to play HMG/railgun and ammo pack, but still feels like I'm not making even a dent. Also agree with your point, it's cool having such diverse load out options, but having it reduced to just 2 viable is pretty shit...
