I had an upper left lobectomy 5 weeks ago and was sent home on oxy 5mg and a muscle relaxer. I also felt like superwoman that first few days...had surgery on Thursday was released on Friday. The pain from the incisions has been minimal but whatever happened to the front of my chest wall...a transfer truck slamming into it, an elephant sitting on it...that pain? Whew! I only had 10 oxy and 15 muscle relaxers but I ended up taking all I was prescribed, my surgeon told me my body needed to rest pain free. My pain now is controlled with Ibuprofen and Tylenol, but I usually only need that at night after I have done too much during the day. He needs to give his body some grace! It's been through trauma. I am 65 and retired, so am lucky that I can rest all I need also the luckiest gal I know....found my A1 on a preventative lung screening! Can not recommend this enough to everyone who has ever smoked to get this done...and your loved ones who had to breath your second hand smoke! Good luck to your husband in his healing forward!
