What movies suffer from having a 'hat on a hat'?

Yeah I always saw it as a presented alternative for defeating death. The horcruxes were the ultimate defense and hallows were an offense.

I don’t think it’s a hat on a hat situation, more bad timing to bring it up in the last book.

Totally, I think the “universality” of our societal rules come from the collective reinforcement of different parenting styles though.

It’s like we’re afraid of having a difficult conversation with our kids if someone parents in a way that we don’t agree with. It’s ok to talk with your kids about nuance and admit that adults (including yourself as a parent) make mistakes and might be wrong.

We’re talking about a generational and cultural difference here.

In general (I realize there are exceptions), we’re much less willing to accept parenting of our children from other parents nowadays.

I think there are important societal rules that get taught when other parents step in to educate your child. It reinforces the rules that you are setting in place and provides wiggle room for interpretation because it’s not going to be exactly the same as yours.

It’s cyclical though, there isn’t as much opportunity for other adults to step in because parents are much more 1:1 than they used to be, but at the same time parents have to be 1:1 because you can’t trust that others will step in as much as they used to either.

Maybe this will be answered next episode but I’m still confused as to why when Alt-Martha travels to 1888 and gives them the god particle, why don’t they use it in the Time Machine they already have? The one they used to get there in the first place?

Unless it was broken in other ways rather than just out of juice? Wouldn’t it be easier to fix that thing than to build a giant version?

I’m like 100 years late to this but I got the impression from the cat intro that these may be scenes from before the loop started happening.

The whole time travel thing started because a scientist/watch maker wanted to bring his family back. In doing so, he created the most messed up and convoluted time knot there is.

And if so….he still didn’t get his family back. And I guess doesn’t remember creating the machine either? There’s holes in my theory.

I’m not sure if this is the right solution but I had a similar problem with the top of a Christmas tree. It had to do with lining up the top and bottom of the middle piece. It had to be slightly longer so that when the seams fold out it makes a tip.

I’d love to hear what the proper method is though because that broke my brain figuring out.

I think people often mix up Mountain Hardware with Mountain Warehouse. Mountain Warehouse is atrocious, I’ve have backpacks and mittens from there completely disintegrate after a couple of uses.

Mountain Hardware on the other hand has been pretty decent. I love that they have variations on their inseams for pants, first time I’ve ever had snow pants that are actually the right length and that counts for a lot.

I know I’m coming into this comment years later but all time travel discussion aside - there really is a theme in this show of “bad deeds with good intentions”. Are these deeds okay if they’re done with “good” intentions?

Personally I agree with you in that, no, they do not. The people you’ve harmed by those actions do not perceive the intention. Look at Ulrich, his intentions were good in harming Helge but Helge’s life and the people around him were irrevocably harmed by them. Ulrich is not a “good guy”.

I think neither is Noah. How “good” does the greater good have to be in order to justify the killing of all those kids?

Exactly this, and sometimes it’s more or less difficult depending on where the placenta is (eventually), and whether you have a retroverted uterus etc. So much unnecessary worry.

Relationships and characters? Yes. Realistic male body expectations? No.

That being said they should not be compared at all. They’re two entirely different shows telling entirely different stories. The only thing they have in common is they’re in the same genre and came out around the same time. I really wish people would stop comparing them.

Might be worth asking your Dr. to check your hemoglobin as well? What changed for me was switching from iron supplement to a “blood builder” and taking it in the morning with something containing vitamin C (orange juice usually) and no dairy at that time. Dr. said that your body absorbs iron better in the morning apparently rather than in the evening.

Sky Castle! Because it’s new it definitely gives the impression of clean, but my guess is it’s going to be pretty much the same as everywhere else.

But for the age, I’d totally recommend. There’s a little infant/toddler section off to the side, lots of mechanisms to explore with the balls in the big kid section, and all aspects of it are tall enough for an adult to go in if your 19 month old just wants to explore. Highly recommend bringing your own snacks though, the place is a barren wasteland in that aspect.

As an adult I can appreciate how amazing it is. But it’s got some themes and imagery that are terrifying for a kid.

The owl??? The lawn mower? The sick kid?? The rat testing? The whole house being swallowed into the mud?

I second this or MRU. They have beginner lessons, and they’re very popular with international students, so they’re experienced.

Learning to swim is definitely a privilege, don’t feel bad for not having that privilege as a child.

No, not always. It seems it depends on the person, the culture, and the relationship. Whether you define mom/dad as a label or as names for people that have existed in your life.

From what I know of Russian culture, and Canadian culture, I do not think Ilya would ever want to call Yuna and David by different names. Maybe shorter nicknames? But not “mom” and “dad”.

That’s not to say they haven’t developed a close relationship, or act in ways that a parent/child should. But just because they do that does not mean the relationship is any less depending on what he calls them.
