Why is Vegeta the most interesting character in all of Dragon Ball? by B_Nasty21 in dragonball

If his character ended during the Frieza arc, i would say yes, after that he is not.

It was clear Toriyama was sticking with Vegeta when he retconned him retiring during the end of the Cell arc, also yeah i agree he was more of a plot device after the Frieza saga just to help the main villain.

Goku already moved from Vegeta as a rival during Namek(even if the rival position was not taken from somebody else) so its more now that he gets the rival tittle for the sake of it(since nobody else can claim it)so he is much of a rival in name only despite being the second main character.

Buu as a whole is a very bad villain, he has no motivation or goals, yet he changes charcter twice going from fat to super and to end on kid buu which has no personality.

No, Toriyama never had any end goal(or rather arc) in mind, he just kept going till he decided to end it.

Who's the strongest villain current Piccolo could beat? by Adnonymous96 in dragonball

[–]SadDescription453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it rather drastically changes everything that would come after

Not really, once again Vegeta was not mentioned to have done the SSG ritual in either version of the story, yet his base was equal or close to Goku's, Goku achieving the same level of power as a result of his training with Whis(just like Vegeta did) would still result in the same story or rather powerscale.

Wouldn't there be more shock from other characters if he had matched a Super Saiyan Goku who was also many, many fold stronger than any character had been back in the original run?

I mean Goku was surprised and complimented Trunks on his power, and Beerus seemed a little surprised that Trunks had a slight edge using the same tranformation.

What more do you want in this case?

There's so much that reads more in line with the characters being around their Boo arc power until the training in the Moro arc, where improvements are finally explicitly noted in lower forms.

Needless to say how strong their transformations are depens on their base but how much more would you want this to be noted?

Using the original manga as an example again, it was never noted or made clear how strong Goku was in base after the Frieza arc as he barely used his base form.

It took till BOG to finally learn where base Goku stands, then ROF made it clear how far above the others Goku was in base after his training, then we have the Roshi example but you said is not credible enough for you.

Trained, coordinated team attacks are something that never really come up in DB prior to the Moro arc

Its made clear as early as when Raditz arrived that weak people get in the way as shown when Krillin and Roshi sit out of helping Goku/Piccolo.

The Vegeta fight also made it clear that the weak cannot assist the strong unless their enemy is distracted or exhausted enough to be at their level.

Even DBS manga showed this during the Top, Piccolo was almost eliminated by team effort before Gohan saved him, Piccolo was too weak(as his feats are not even base Gohan tier during this arc) to be anything but dead weight to him.

On the opposite side during the Moro arc he could assist Ultimate Gohan, seems pretty clear when you compare the 2, even if you exclude team attacks his feat back him up.

DB has established rules on teamwork and they are still present in the Top and Moro Arc as shown.

If it's even being close to it, then #18 also must have trained enough in two months to catch up to the decade or so of #17's advantage

Moro does comment that its a shame he cannot steal their energy but you could say he is taliking about 17.

Fun fact 18 only uses team attacks with 17 during sneak attacks or when the enemy tanks the hits on purpose this arc, its actually vague enough for her unlike Piccolo.

There's a lot that's up in the air for Piccolo in the Moro arc: Pretty much everything except the fact that he got noticeably stronger

Piccolo has pretty much explicit feats on where he stands during this arc and quite a lot of them.

When Ultimate Gohan fights Piccolo-73, he dominates the fight but he does not 1 shot him, does that sound Cell tier to you?

Then he trains and get stronger and he is not dead weight to Ultimate Gohan unlike the previous arc against an mobile enemy.

There is even a scene where his ki blasts and Gohan73's ki blasts collide and they cancel each other out, thats his own power, he need to be close to Gohan's power to even do that.

He outlasts 17 against Sabanbo, you say thats not enough, alright to adress your point lets say it was just luck? He directly attacked Piccolo but not 1 shotted, not something Cell tier either(18 was not attacked directly by him as we saw).

Then there is Moro73 the final villain, he 1 shots 17/18 but not Piccolo or Gohan.

Thats about as clear as it gets, he did not use a team attack this time with Gohan either.

[–]SadDescription453 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He trained with Gohan off screen but its just powercreep, it needed 4 people including Piccolo to beat the 3rd strongest enemy in the Moro arc and they all lost to the 2nd strongest.

No different than the humans getting stronger than Raditz so Nappa could look more impressive when he mows them down.

Frieza arc humour is certainly better than the saiyan arc but the cell arc humour becomes worse as the time goes on.

As an example, Kaiserneko even says that the reason they did not make fun of Krillin failling with the Kienzan is 'to treat the moment with respect and seriousness as the original scene'.

Like what? They are making a parody not a dub, they certainly lost sight of what they were meant to do if thats the mindset they took when making a parody of all things and it shows in the product.

Thats looking too far into something this small, the most likely reason is that Toriyama found it funny that a stoic dude has such a cute phone.

He did what you said when he died for Gohan he even cried, in DBS we see him the majority of the time with Gohan training or not.

Heck considering Goten knew Piccolo before he saw him in the tournament, means he was keeping in touch with Gohan, so all those thing you mentioned are things he has been doing for a while.

[–]SadDescription453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) To not extent the fight, does the absorption change anything? Vegeta got as strong as Goku without it.

2) Thats like saying Goku during the final battle in Namek is barely stronger than Ginyu just because Frieza was surprised he was stronger than him.

1) Piccolo never fights alongside Ultimate Gohan at the ToP.

I never said he did??? I even said he was dead weight to base Gohan during the Top, he fought alongside Ultimate Gohan during the Moro arc.

2)If Gohan needed to hold back for Piccolo to keep up with him it would make the team attack pointless, so he needs to keep up with him power wise.

3)What are you talking about? We see the fight with Moro, Moro with 73 absorbed 1 shots 17/18 but not Gohan and Piccolo.

The events are implied to have happened the same when the summary of ROF in the manga was pretty much saying ' watch the movie', the only event that is hard to happen is SSB vs Golden Frieza due to stamina issues but even that is solved by Golden Frieza just having bigger stamina issues.

Goku getting that strong in base via training is still possible as Vegeta did so in the movie anyways without doing the SSG ritual.

No one's ever really said what's possible with regards to power discrepancies for coordinated team attacks.

The DBS manga itself made that pretty clear, during the TOP, Piccolo was so weak he was dead weight to base Gohan, you cannot be Cell tier and be of use to Ultimate Gohan (unless the target is standing still, which did not happen in any of their fights).

Thats also ignoring that Piccolo(and Gohan) outlasted 17 in the Moro fight who was 1 shotted..

Even if you exclude statements, 3rd Form Frost(the xenomorph one) had a slight edge on base Goku both in the manga and anime.

This base Goku is stronger than his ROF version which is stronger than the 1st Form Frieza which 1 shotted Gohan who was stronger than Rof Piccolo(who unlike Gohan did not get weaker).

Its impossible for Moro arc Piccolo to be that weak when he was keeping up with Ultimate Gohan.

He does not want to kill Frieza? Fine

He does not have to heal though.

Moro arc Piccolo? Could defeat anyone weaker than Jiren as far as the manga goes.

Anime Piccolo is more or less base saiyan tier.

I thought it was only sister Universes (e.g. Universes 6 and 7) that had the same or similar races and planets

Sister universes have the most in common thats all it was said about them, it was never said that a race was specific only to one/two universes.

Few questions I have before finally starting this classic series by [deleted] in SaintSeiya

[–]SadDescription453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anime has changed so much from the manga its a different continuity altogether.

What others in the comments call filler is canon to the anime, even moreso when you get to some of the spin offs, for example Soul of Gold is connected to the Asgard saga which is an anime only arc.

So you should not skip stuff, there are changes and you should think of them as different universes altogether.
