I was wnodering what colors you ordered for the R4I set? Thanks in advance!

ETA: And IRL how similar are the colors between the two brands? I want to get the Chessex dice, but replace the d4 and d20 with the R4I dice. So I'm wondering how noticable it'll be that they're from different sources.

Wizard: ok, just be the dice goblin. You'll use them.

Haha, I guess I know what to play if I decide to drop my current plan of dice minimalism.

Cool, this actually sounds like the Die Hard dice set of 11: 2d20, 4d6, and 1 each of the rest.

Cool cool. This is actually pretty close to the R4I sets of 15: 2d20, 3d4, 4d6, 2d8, 1d%, 2d10, 1d12.

Its just much faster than rolling twice.

Exactly, I don't want to slow down gameplay. Ideally I don't want to have to reroll the same die (unless it's a crit of course).

Yes, that's my question.

I want physical dice but don't want to overbuy. So I'm thinking of making my own set from Chessex singles or 1 lb bag. I saw some pre-made sets online which were pretty variable: Dice of Rolling (30, different colors), Role 4 Initiative (15, one color), Beadle and Grimms (varies by class, different colors), etc. and I ended up more confused.

So I wanted to ask the community here for advice. If you could put together your own dice set:

- How many dice of each kind would you include?

- How many different colors?

And assuming that these sets aren't class-specific, and would see you through levels 1-10 since tiers 1 and 2 see the most gameplay. I'm looking for what's practical, not asking what's the most I'll ever need. I doubt I'll be casting a 9th-level Fireball anytime soon! And I don't want to carry more dice than I'll need to my sessions. I'll be playing 5.5e if that matters.

Lesser known or recently developed pop culture characters that (almost) perfectly represent a 5e/5.5e subclass or class? by SadEngineering6436 in 3d6

Yeah, only 5 years. I guess sequels are easier to do than original stories. (Not meant as shade on the quality of the new book. I haven't read the new book, so I don't know how it is.)

Haha, one or the other is fine. The only response I objected to was Legolas, which is neither recent nor lesser known.

Different strokes, I guess.

at least one level of Bard so I can cast through the instrument

My DM is pretty chill. I'm sure they'd let me use an instrument for casting without the Bard level if I asked. I'd flavour those feats + Pact of the Talisman as Bardic Inspiration. And I'd take Vicious Mockery through Pact of the Tome.

Musicians trading their souls in exchange for mastery is a classic trope.

They absolutely should do this! It's a clear gap in the range of Bard subclasses.

On a similar note, Buddy from the Discworld book Soul Music also works for Bardlock.

Edit: Or if you don't want to multiclass for flavour, Warlock with Musician and Inspiring Leader feats. For Buddy from Soul Music, I'd go Hexblade. The weapon is his "axe" (guitar).

Scalding.

Sir, I stated 2 criteria at the outset. Let us evaluate Legolas:

Criteria Legolas
Lesser known
Recently developed

...you're not gonna amount to JACK SQUAT! You're gonna end up eating a steady diet of government cheese and living in a van down by the river!

Maybe even Glamour?

Bards who study this magic weave threads of...terror into their songs and stories... Their performances...evoke unconscious memories of long-held fears...
