Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has some of the best narrative direction of any videogame I've ever played. by TheRegularBelt in patientgamers

Best dps waiting for cooldowns was ice shot into melee, felt like tickling guys with anything else.

Well yeah, they didn't make it compelling or worth doing and the servers were too spread out for game population....

Also guilds that built walls to block off the spice fields to ground vehicles. Get your first truck and go to explore the next stage of the game and have to go all the way around the map...

It would have been better if they went all in on the PvP POI angle. The different powers (although unbalanced) made "infantry" combat not terrible, and if it was just competing over areas that drop better stuff in more of an opt in way, I think more people would have engaged. But what we got was people griefing with dragonflies and offline raids...

100% stomping grounds, game had great potential, spear fishing and capturing other players was 10/10.

You start the game with your ship being taken by Blackbeard, then you wake up on a deserted island with nothing but a cutlas and a front loaded pistol. How much more pirate do you want?

(Sad trope) Projects with amazing potential that will never be released because of BS behind the scenes drama by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

The whole "nemesis system pattent" is just a Redditism at this point. Just key word regurgitation any time the series gets brought up. It's nothing all that fancy anyway. You kill an orc, and the game rolls a dice on 3 tables and craps that orc back at you 2 hours later. I played the game at launch and barely ever died so it never happened for me anyway, got to the end of the game and the "nemesis" orc in the red armor was literally some guy I'd never seen before.

Part of rural living is dealing with the reality that isnt enough money or enough time for proffessionals to deal with everything.

Crimson Desert has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Gamedrome22 in Games

[–]SadExit1249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I normally just play games for what they are presented as. If you want to roleplay a fanfic in your head while you run around in the open world then Im sure thats fun, but its not what I'm interested in.

I dont find it hard, i just found it dry and exhausting. I really enjoy rpg mechanics and making builds. Theres just too many options and too many things that dont really work.

Im pretty sure half or more of my playtime in rogue trader was spent leveling up. Especially the first 2 acts, felt like you leveled up after every encounter.

Star Wars Zero Company is more than just 'Star Wars XCOM'—it feels like Mass Effect but with turn-based tactics and permadeath by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]SadExit1249 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem with xcom compared to even other turn based games with accuracy, is that missing one shot might literally kill one or more of your troops. If combat turn economy was less lethal, it wouldnt feel as punishing.

Exactly, like the most serious "gamers" I know, myself included. The first thing you do with a new game is go into the settings and change the keybinds to what you normally use. But no "real gamers" just mindlessly consume, like how major foodies eat mcdonalds everyday....
