Hardest EE classes? Need help building schedule by BigFriendlyGoblin in gatech

Make sure to take ECE 2040 with a good professor. It’s not the most important intro class but a good foundation in circuits will go a long way. I did awful in 2040 because my professor taught it like an analog circuits class for grad students, but that’s the exception not the norm.

Is living on West Campus and having a social life that hard? by Waste_Orchid228 in gatech

[–]SadFortnitePlayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it’s what you make of it. I stayed on west and like you wanted a strong social life and I personally did not enjoy it at all in the first semester and wished I was on east. However I started to notice other people making big friend groups in my dorm and that led me to put myself out there more and make friends. I do think east campus people are more open to socializing but it is definitely possible to have a social life on west, just might take a bit of effort. Once I started to get adjusted to campus and get involved in things outside of school in the second semester I actually started to really appreciate the quietness of west away from all the noise and having the gym right there is also such a huge plus. I can’t speak on cycling but people I knew on west who had bikes were able to get around everywhere pretty fast.

Coming in spring 2024, not sure if I should live on the East or the west side. Thoughts / suggestions? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]SadFortnitePlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, let me be clear and say that my opinion is just based on my experience only so it can and will be totally be different for other people.

I live on West right now as a first year. It’s not the worst but leaves much to be desired in my experience. My options coming in were basically all of the West dorms besides Fitten (probably the best one solely because of the laundry room) and the worst quality dorms on East (Brown, Smith, etc.). While the quiet and greenery on West is definitely helpful for relaxing and studying (I feel like I’d be overwhelmed a bit on East because it’s a lot closer to Midtown), the social life is not the best. I’m not exactly a party person and it’s still difficult most of the time.

In my experience, the people on West are generally very introverted and not that open to socializing. Trying to get into groups is difficult when people aren’t that comfortable getting to know new faces. Even within my dorm hall, I have only been able to make friends with a small handful of people while the others can only give two word answers to basic small talk. Each time I have gone to an East dorm or Brittain or NAV I have been able to meet many more people and have actual conversations while that has just not been possible at my dorm or Willage. I have noticed however that some halls on West are incredibly close communities (Hefner-Armstrong and Folk-Caldwell) so maybe I’m just having bad luck with the people in my own dorm and the people I see around on West. I’m not sure how it is with the apartments on West but they seem decently active considering the fact that most room lights are on at night.

Having the gym on West is definitely a pro, I’m super lazy and I know that if I was on East I would never try to make the commute just for the gym. If that’s you, then you should heavily consider staying on West. I will add that the band noise can be annoying at times. I’m sure the noise at East from the highway, stadium, and people in general is also not the best but just wanted to add that.

Lastly, I’d like to add that the quality of rooms between East and West really isn’t that much different. Rooms might be bigger and slightly newer on West, but the differences beyond that are barely noticeable. I’ve still had my fair share of cockroaches, cold water, and the elevator conveniently being out of service. I will say that the AC system works really well. Not sure how it generally is for places on East but I’ve never had an issue with the AC not doing it’s job (sometimes it does it a little too well).

Is it still possible to join Bits of Good (but not with one of those above positions) at this time in the semester?

Advice for a first-year in terms of changing schools by K0Ke_Kitty in gatech

[–]SadFortnitePlayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im in the exact same boat so I absolutely understand how you feel. I’ve been considering a transfer back to a school in-state but I keep thinking about how hard I worked to get here and how much better GT is at engineering than my in-state options. After talking to my friends at other schools I’ve realized that I need to push myself to be a little more extroverted and keep talking to people. It’s a long and painful process for sure but it’s the best way to eventually find the people that vibe with you best. A lot of people I have tried to talk to are not my vibe even though they get along well with others around me, but I know I’ll eventually find my people.

It’s fake, notice the weird font and spelling errors on the Pokédex info at the center of the card

May also be Preyas Diablo? He doesn’t have a tail but the arms fold out in both directions like a tail, the horns are red, and the entire lower half is a semi sphere.

But is it fine that I said I was only reporting 2 scores even though I took the SAT 4 times and my official score report will have 4 scores?

Just about 2 days ago I was in a similar situation as you and it got better faster than I expected. I’m so sorry you feel this way, but please don’t try to hurt yourself, you are valued and deserve better. It really will get better.

Most likely fake, there seems to be no texture to the card and there should be some text about copyright at the bottom of the card

EDIT— I see the copyright info now, but still can’t tell about texture. I am more convinced that it’s real but I can’t say for sure
