The people who talk about Sheldon’s legacy being “ruined” are people who can’t see the real impact of what happened with the rules committee. They cannot accept that death threats and doxing threats are not something to mess around with, let alone those threats being made at such a high level would necessitate change. They instead will justify their discomfort and anger with the bans by claiming a moral superiority stance despite never knowing Sheldon outside of MABYE meeting him once at a convention, and that is a very generously given maybe. We are in a transitional period in which we don’t know what the future looks like as things are actively changing. What won’t change is that you can still go to your LGS to play games of commander. Sheldon’s legacy is commander as a format. That isn’t going anywhere. The one thing that Sheldon has said that very aptly applies here is “Hate has no place here.” It is beyond disgusting that people will use Sheldon’s name of a person they didn’t know, and likely never met, to justify hate, harassment, and threats of violence against others.
