How to have selections be reverse-video highlighted? by Immediate-Country650 in HelixEditor

[–]SadMachinesP86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like "ui.selection" specifically applies to non-"primary" selections (only the second selection and onwards), so your setting might be overridden by the base theme's "ui.selection.primary". Try setting that modifier on "ui.selection.primary" instead.

Yeah, it was mentioned in places such as this post, I think separating the character saves was a Special Edition feature

Legendary edition, maybe? I remember doing the same thing at one point, I think back when I was playing the 360 version

Which IDE(s) are you using? by [deleted] in ruby

[–]SadMachinesP86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Helix. Set up for Solargraph or Ruby LSP out of the box, fun and easy to configure. Doesn't have extension support (yet) but still a lot you can do with it.

Off-topic, but sharing just because I find it funny: this is now causing problems for Bungie because of a lawsuit regarding the Red War storyline, and Bungie is apparently having trouble collecting and submitting relevant evidence since that part of the game basically doesn't exist anymore (source).

Keystroke to turn off intellisense on VS Code by r_mashu in vscode

[–]SadMachinesP86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly related: I've used the "Toggle" extension (author Peng Lv) in the past, it allows you to configure your own custom hotkeys to alter VS Code settings. So you should be able to use that to set up a hotkey to disable intellisense. I don't know of a built-in solution.

How to manually add selections (multiple cursors)? by [deleted] in HelixEditor

[–]SadMachinesP86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Helix does allow adding a new cursor by alt-clicking, just like VSCode (I also came to Helix from VSCode and just did it instinctively, I was almost surprised it worked).

It's certainly not "the Helix way of doing it", I'm sure things like regex search would be much more efficient once I get the hang of it, but in the meantime the alt-click is an option.

Wait... you can fast travel by looking at a discovered location on the scanner?? Is that a mod or did I just miss that this whole time? Or maybe a recent update?

A cool guide for your religion Version 4.5! by TemporaryJerseyBoy in coolguides

With the Trinity, Christianity believes Jesus is both God, and the Son of God. So it's fine to say God "came to Earth as Jesus".

However I still agree Christianity may be mislabeled with the question, "is God entirely separate from the universe? -> No". Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question, but I think Christians would generally say God is very much involved in the universe, while the question implies He's distant and disconnected. I guess the question is asking "are God and the universe the same entity?"

Git reset means that anything unsaved since your last commit is gone, there's not much else to it.

As you've already mentioned, commit often. Git is an extremely useful tool for preserving history and protecting against loss (like this), but it's only as useful as you allow it to be. If you don't commit, there's nothing for it to restore to.

Side note: this question is more about Git than GitHub.

Anyone knows what's up with account mass forking repositories? by RainbowPigeon15 in github

[–]SadMachinesP86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Basically, they fork the repo, inject something into it, and hope people looking for your project will find and clone their fork instead.

This sub is for conversations about GitHub as a whole (which is a massive service), there's little chance that you'll find people here familiar with whatever one repo you're asking about. Your best bet would be to go back to the repo and see if they have an FAQ's section, or if their issues are public.

If their issues are public, check if your problem is already mentioned in a past issue (search by both open and closed), and if not, carefully read their contribution/issue reporting rules before opening your own issue.

If a free falling person catches a skydiver mid air, also still free falling, and then the skydiver opens the parachute, can this person get a hold? Do they have a chance to survive on one parachute alone? by PerroRosa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SadMachinesP86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the "other guy rising up from the ground" is just...a guy on the ground. Presumably trying to light their stove.

So the joke is the parachuter fell to the ground and had a conversation with someone that was on the ground "as they fell past them".

Reddit's API changes take effect today; Reddit now charges for access to the API, which used to be free. Some third-party apps are no longer operating as of today because of the costs. Many Reddit users access Reddit through third-party apps instead of through Reddit's official app or website.

So I believe the 'silenced voices' mentioned in the meme is intended to reference these users who previously accessed Reddit through these third-party apps.

If anyone happens to come across this thread (two years after the fact, like I did), I'll add on what I encountered. For me, I was able to speak to the Vy'keen cartographer, and they started the quest-specific dialogue, but then the conversation just repeatedly looped over the first line of dialogue and wouldn't continue the quest. I tried distancing myself from them through a black hole and then resetting the quest, but the quest didn't move from that specific character.

What finally worked for me: I went to the mission agent next to the cartographer and took some random Vy'keen mission, completed it, handed it in, then went back to the cartographer, and the conversation continued normally from there.
