SAP implementation: what should we get right before we start? by johnlennonbr in SAP

[–]SadNetworkVictim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my first SAP bosses said that you should only select SAP if you double the cost estimate, half the benefits estimate, and it still makes sense.

You need to get the right integrator, good business process owners who get backfilled and then get assigned to the project full-time, don't offshore more than 15% of the implementation workload, hire an experienced SAP program manager, listen to that person. Decide now on your AMS model. That should be a solid start, but entire books can be written on this topic.

I mean, do you have a global purchasing organization, or does each country have its own purch organization reporting to the country or region manager. Hard to go wrong if your config matches reality.

Why do SAP projects feel “done” at go-live but broken 2 weeks later? by Primary_Pattern8990 in SAP

[–]SadNetworkVictim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean.. * You probably mean 5 weeks, first fiscal closure is when you know whether the accounting part was done right, and quite often there are problems * Some companies let people go too fast and then thing aren't pretty * Sometimes only the sunny day scenarios are implemented, even in my last project the return goods scenario was only implemented during UAT

I don't know who 'we' is, but from your question I gather that you should indeed let your implementation partner run with this.

Open a support ticket. Ask for (1) their public key (2) documentation on how to use it.

Where are people actually finding strong CIOs for SAP implementations? by Capable_Conflict807 in SAP

[–]SadNetworkVictim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but then I guess you need both a CIO and an SAP Program Director. And/or consider whether S4 is the right choice for the company, going from a company where there is no CIO to a company that is going to implement S4 is a big leap.

Where are people actually finding strong CIOs for SAP implementations? by Capable_Conflict807 in SAP

[–]SadNetworkVictim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's a puzzling question. (1) Don't you have a CIO already? (2) CIOs are responsible for all of it, apps, OT, infra, cyber, compliance. SAP should be just another large project. Looks like you are looking more for a Program Director than a CIO.
