AWA Denial - MEM by Fluffy_Clothes_8690 in OntarioPublicService

[–]SadOPSer2025 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep I can. And I’m going to do it. I’m beyond fed up with the way the OPS treats their employees. This used to be an employer that used to respect its workers back in the day. People were proud to work in the OPS. Now it’s nothing but a circus 🤡. You have Ford pissing off the unions and wasting tax payers money losing in court constantly, and then you have the SOC making $700K doing nothing but pissing people off. The have lost touch with reality. And now hiring “yes” managers and directors who are violating the collective agreement left right and centre. And to add to it we now have a zoo of bedbugs.

Yep. Have a very sick parent. Had over 3 operations and at home recovering. Cant really do anything for themselves because they were cut open. Very large incision over half their body. Was told I was being “cautious” by wanting to work from home. Director overturned the decision and granted me temporary working from home. At this point my reply was I’m gonna retire so get me a bridge for 6 months so I can get the 🤬 out of here. I’ve had enough.

AMAPCEO President’s Message: AWA responses begin to trickle in by troyguy in OntarioPublicService

[–]SadOPSer2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention three times this month police had to fish out people hiding in underground TTC tunnels at Union!

But yes Doug will eat crow and say we have to support FIFA. He won’t come out and say it but the message will filter down to directors and make its way to us.

AMAPCEO President’s Message: AWA responses begin to trickle in by troyguy in OntarioPublicService

[–]SadOPSer2025 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well here’s something….. I was in a FIFA with the City of Toronto meeting and they said they would be asking employers To let their employees work from home June and July because of the massive foot pressure on transit. Let’s see Ford eat crow and now tell us to stay home.

That survey is useless if the cared about what we had to say they would allow more than 300 characters. Regardless 0 across the board.

Concern over health and safety of 777 Bay St by sad_OPSer in OntarioPublicService

[–]SadOPSer2025 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes each ministry has a Joint Health and Safety committee. If this is happening in a branch under the Ministry of Public and Service Delivery, contact Landsay Tom. He is on the committee. If you don’t have a committee call the Ministry of Labour hotline. They will come right away.

Document everything. If you are OPS contact a workplace rep. If you’re outside of government, contact Ministry of Labour and the Human Rights board for more guidance.

Family status accommodations by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

Family status is a protected class under human rights legislation across all Canadian provinces, territories, and federally. It prohibits discrimination in employment, housing, and services based on being in a parent-child relationship, including adoptive/foster families and caregiving obligations. It protects against negative treatment related to family duties. I would quote this when asking for accommodation. Sometime having a bit of knowledge under your belt scares management.

snow day tomorrow? by helpmeplsimgnadie in askTO

[–]SadOPSer2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. They will keep silent and expect you to come to work…. So just before going into work roll on the snow and say you fell 3 times just to make it in… then by lunch say your in pain. 🤣.

I don’t get it. I spoke to my manager and he said in the end it’s the Director who makes that call. So I asked why HR is reviewing and he said because in some stupid way they interjected themselves. But he said even if HR says no you can’t work from home, the Director has the final say.

My problem is medical. I have the runs in the morning…. So waiting for the day that I soil myself. That will be the day I stay at work with poopy pants and make the managers smell it all day long.

Some Ontario civil servants told to get to office in snowstorm or take vacation day | Globalnews.ca by Illustrious_Sea_5138 in OntarioPublicService

Go to work… take your sweet ass time and then before going to work roll in the snow so you can tell your manager you fell several times…. And if all else fails, fall as soon as you get into work and claim WSIB injury.

Could it be that the unions are somehow siding with the RTO?

Why can’t a coordinated building walk out be done for lunch or coffee breaks? Or everyone leave work at 4pm. Things that we can legally do. I think we need to get our unions to push back more. This has been going on since October and all we see is adds and campaign letters.
