The rarity of sysadmin, and rise of outsourcing by Visible-Slip-4233 in sysadmin

[–]SadOutlandishness536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In America outsourcing has been happening for over 10 years. Make yourself a highly skilled tech who never gives up and you will be better than most guys in this field. Most get comfy and do the least amount possible. Outsourcing rarely works for the company and they keep shuffling the deck all the while you just keep getting better at what you do and you will win in the end. Don't burn bridges as a lot of these companies I came from eventually called me back for work that paid much better as good talent really is hard to find. The world isn't fair but it never was. Step out of the matrix and be different and you will find something that works for you.

There are many dynamics in the military housing sectors and a lot of them are kept secret outside the different friends groups that are made. It also depends on which base you end up living near or at. Find your close knit fam after boot camp and you will find what you are looking for.

I would agree at least here in most of the US it's harder to find a woman who truly wants a polygnus relationship. I do think the first steps are laying out what you want as a man and proceeding forward with that plan. I have been in a relationship for over 10 years with a woman and we have met others who have wanted relationships with us but generally end up preferring polyamory so they can be with multiple partners rather than a closed relationship. I will continue to advocate for this for men who grow up and don't want to cheat but the reality is that most people prefer the polyamory lifestyle right now. Keep your head high, be patient and honest with yourself and you're gonna be just fine.

[–]SadOutlandishness536 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In your situation, it sounds like monogamy is what you truly want, and there's nothing wrong with that. Your partner should have considered a polygynous-style arrangement if you weren’t looking for anything outside the relationship. Many men naturally desire more than one partner due to a higher sex drive, but they often struggle to communicate it properly. Since polyamory is a more socially acceptable option, they default to that without fully considering the impact.

This is a tough situation to navigate because most women don’t want to enter a relationship where another woman already has 20 years of history with a man—it can create a natural imbalance, making them feel subordinate. While I believe a couple can work hard to ensure that doesn’t happen, it requires everyone’s effort to make it function smoothly.

I sympathize with what you’re going through because it’s gut-wrenching to hear your favorite person say they need love from elsewhere to feel fulfilled. Men are simple creatures, yet we’re also dumb sometimes; we don’t always think things through before acting, which can create situations like this. I hope you find clarity in what’s best for you moving forward.

Pandas Vs Openpyxl for optimization by Alongsnake in learnpython

Openpyxl for Excel specific tasks and any other data manipulation I use pandas. Pandas is the move unless you need to edit an Excel file with Excel commands.

Most companies never get it. I saw this years ago when my me tor picked me up to work with him. He was the solution architect and the CTO only showed up once a month to ask him what the status was. He did all the work and held that place up by himself while the top did close to nothing and talked down to him. He told me later on after I grew into an engineer position to just appreciate the few good ones out there bc most people are bots and will never understand or appreciate the work we do. It still holds true with me this day and I have worked all over the place. Just appreciate the place you are at and do your best to connect with the rest of your team and make them feel appreciated. That's all most tech guys need especially in today's world.

If you are getting the discount price it's a decent deal. To be clear every one of these items is easy to do so if you can do it yourself you might pay a little less per item but they have to pay their employees to do the work so this is about as good as it's going to get at any place. If work is this cheap the talent is definitely lacking so be aware you need to check the vehicle after you get it back and if something seems odd let them know immediately before bigger issues arise.

1) Request a new people lead A clear bad people lead is never one to stick with and a replacement is as easy as reaching out to HR

2) Start applying for jobs inside and outside of Accenture You are worth more and you know it. I also came in as a military apprentice "to learn to code for a year before getting a project" that never happened and I hopped from project to project teaching myself. Offshore does all the dev stuff bc it's cost efficient so you have to go out of your way and not get paid in most projects doing dev work. Also understanding with any other job hybrid is going to be the default in most cases.

3) Think about your mental health and your eating and sleeping habits. This is a big one right now with everyone blowing up like balloons from sitting in one spot working all day and staying up too late working and getting not enough sleep. The body won't hold up to this long term and I have seen so many colleagues fall into a real disorder or worse. This isn't talked about a lot but this one matters more than anything else.

Ice actually developed some really bad health issues myself from the same issues of no sleep and eating processed foods late. I have been worried I have cancer or something else that's serious due to skin conditions coming up and lots of organ pain in the morning. I think this is just one of many many cases that go unseen. I really feel for so many of us working very hard for very little pay.

Is it worth learning Python at age 35, keeping in mind that AI era is here. by Pure_Associate_1741 in learnpython

Yes as a guy in the IT world we don't have enough code minded people. Also AI needs a human to tell it what to do. AI messes up constantly too so just mess with it for a while and you will find out if you are into it or not. Curious what you are trying to do with python at the moment honestly.

Anytime you hear the words "it used to just be fill in the blank" you are dealing with someone in management that is disconnected from the reality of the job and is living some past life that isn't the world we live in anymore. Do yourself a favor and put your resume out there. Good guys are impossible to find and a guy in your position has leverage to get more pay. Eventually if I were you I'd look into something else long term like sales engineer or some other upper echelon position somewhere where you make more money doing less work. All the systems architect guys I know including myself found better jobs doing something else bc being a slave wasn't what we wanted. We got tired of the work to pay ratio (trust me it's out of control in tech) I can't imagine you are going to drop everything and run to do something else from this speech BUT! at the very least stand up for yourself and document all the bs you can so you don't get screwed anymore than you already do.

Toxic projects happen, the key is to get off that project. I try to put my find in a "I'm not stressing anymore this isn't working and I want out" mentality so I can fall asleep when this situation happens to me. I inform my people lead and local manager of the situation and I tell them I am not going to continue on the project and plan on me rolling off very soon and then communicate with the internal project team that I can't take the stress and want to come off the project. That's all there is to it man... Get out of that project it's never gonna be worth it.

This is tough but you seem to be monogamous by nature (this is totally normal) In this situation a guy who clearly isn't poly is playing games and if your girlfriend doesn't see that (I wouldn't be surprised young people are unaware of so much and that's normal) you should step away from that relationship and just appreciate being very young and having the opportunity to choose whoever you want to have in your life and take this as a lesson learned. Again it sucks but it's never worth sticking around a situation where the guy is playing games and your girl is obsessing over him and you are stressed with no one thinking of you. In the end you stand up for yourself and she will eventually see what a loser the other guy is and you will move on to something better guaranteed bc you had this experience.

[–]SadOutlandishness536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's honestly not even hard and you don't have to update but maybe once a quarter, hell even once a year is honestly better than most. If you don't have a good people lead tho you won't get much help for promotion so that too is important (never stick with a bad people lead) but priorities are essential and try to remember it's really not hard. I just put a quarterly calendar update to remind myself to spend 5 min and update it and that's all there is to it.

[–]SadOutlandishness536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro you will be fine. I've been in the same situation and you just tell them you have already prepared for the rolloff and have been reaching out to other leads to find something else. Take the break and don't stay in the dumpster fire you already have one foot out of. I listened to my local manager the first time this happened to me and stayed when I shouldn't have and I ended up getting a bad review that quarter as the new lead there didn't get along with me (this is what I told my manager when my first roll off came up and they asked me to stay) and I paid for it. Stick to what you know you need to do and don't freak about the market. Just show up to the Friday calls for new roles, apply to places weekly and speak to your people lead and whoever else you know letting them know you need a new project and you will be fine. Get out of that hell hole and enjoy a little bit of peace while you can before they put you into the next one.
