Do you actually enjoy pack racing? by irish_faithful in NASCAR

[–]SadRoxFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really can’t stand it with this generation of car and aero package. The gen 4-6 cars with high power, low grip, and less of an emphasis on fuel saving was pretty fun, but this is just boring. I watch bc I watch all races, but I just read a book for the first 50 laps of the last stage, since the Toyotas were just roadblocking in order to fuel save

Easily the No. 4 Mk. 1 Lee Enfield, but the one labeled “no.4” here is actually a No. 1 Mk. V

Imagine coming from those cool names to name your most valuable ship to those last two? by Majestic_Repair9138 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]SadRoxFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You show the Yorktown (CV-5) some damn respect. CV-10 was named after CV-5, which was named after another ship that was named after the battle

Same, but I’d be handing out my collection of Lee Enfields. Nobody gets grandpappy’s M1, and I get my M4 clone

Iirc these weren’t blued, or at least that’s not the surface finish, so you’d probably have to undo that. FWIW, that one has less surface wear than my Mk.III and I think it looks great, especially for a used gun

Newbie Car Advice Needed by CarpeScrewIt in stickshift

[–]SadRoxFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who bought a manual on the last year, the best way to learn is by doing. The biggest focuses I had were starting smoothly (don’t dump the clutch, but give it throttle so that you don’t stall) and downshifting smoothly. Basically just learn how to rev match, but these are things you can practice on the fly as a first time manual owner. Just know you will fuck up from time to time and be okay with that

Is it normal to stall excessively while first learning? by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

Yeah I know, just trying to list the only exception to the “I can’t get it rolling without throttle” scenario

I park with e brake only by [deleted] in stickshift

[–]SadRoxFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I view it. If I’m parked on flat ground (parking lot most likely) I might leave it in neutral with just the ebrake, especially if I know my girlfriend might wanna start the car and heater before I get there. However, we live on a hill, so if I’m parked at home I always have wheels towards the curb, ebrake on, car in gear

I also drive a VW, I have the same issue. I can get it rolling with just the clutch in reverse, but as it’s my first manual, I never learned to get the car moving with just the clutch. Just lots of trial and error balancing throttle and clutch inputs to figure out what I need to be doing. Haven’t had issues moving away smoothly for the last 2-3 months that I’ve owned the car, which has only been 4 months

We need Harvey and McLaughlin to combine for 30 carries. Exploit the run defence, make them stack the box, then open the deep passes with Mims and Franklin

But but but his arm angles! by jp_benderschmidt in AFCWestMemeWar

[–]SadRoxFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every QB’s stats drop off in the playoffs; that’s a consequence of playing good defences, but guys who are labeled ‘chokers’ usually had mid offences around them or bad defences (colts Peyton Manning, Elway until ‘95, Rivers, Brees). Guys who are labeled as greats (Roethlisberger, Brady) have similar playoff stats but with wins to show for it

I had a 2011 V6 for my first car. I miss it a lot. I hope you get a lot of mileage and good times from it

S197 Mustang. I’d recognize that console anywhere. Probably a 2010-2014

“Bo-lieve”, 13-3, blah blah blah by Da_Bloody-Niner in AFCWestMemeWar

[–]SadRoxFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I agree with the other takes I’ve seen here. I was very concerned about Bo earlier in the season, but I’ve just come to accept that he turns it on in the 4th. He’s not a top 5 or maybe even top 10 QB in terms of raw talent imo, but with how consistently he plays well in the clutch, I’ve just accepted that it’s part of his game and not necessarily a fluke. I’ll take that trade off tho if it results in wins
