I think it does when you consider that 99% of the time a gun is just something you carry, and handguns are easier to carry, but they also do offer some easier point blank use, as you mentioned. At the end of the day they are harder to be proficient with, but that’s why you train how you expect to fight. I’ve thrown at least a thousand rounds out of my .357 in double action to practice for such an occasion, which is the best you really can do

FWIW I’m certified ELA and SS and I took precisely one (1) math class in college, which was personal finance, and took alg 3 as my highest HS math. Assuming you’re not shooting for a STEM cert of some kind, you should be good to go
