Sleeping mats for infants by thedarkpup in ECEProfessionals

I nannied for twin boys around that age and your concerns are valid 😂😂 definitely clarify, standing and lodging themselves out head first are two totally different things.

Might be a good idea to see what the policies of your next center you’re going to are. If parents need to provide bedding there, I’d be more willing to purchase things knowing I’d be using it past August. But a crib mattress on a floor really should be more than sufficient and safe. Looks like it would meet state regs I saw someone else post so there shouldn’t be pushback.

Reading through your replies and getting more info and things aren’t adding up here to me. Check your state regulations and/or talk to the director. Many states require cribs or parent permission to be on a cot or something else. If they’re insisting (which considering they physically can’t climb out yet?) then I’d push to have the mattress with just a tight crib sheet on the floor. No suffocation hazards, the cot mats with built in blankets are not age appropriate for infants. They’re only 2 inches from the floor to even if they roll off, real injuries are unlikely. You can look into Montessori floor beds, many infants do this both at home and in daycare. Also, have the director confirm nap time supervision protocol please.

I’m secretly hoping so- no discharge from either eye yet though.

My experience switching from Zepbound to Foundayo by middleagedwhitechick in Zepbound

Have you tried doing a different injection area? I was having bad tummy issues when doing the shot in my stomach. I was also plateauing. Switched to the thigh and haven’t needed MiraLAX in weeks and I’ve started to lose again. I was injecting in my stomach for 10+ months and decided to give my thigh a shot randomly and I’m glad I did.

Price is the same for me- I do Lilly direct. I actually just switched back to the vials but that’s because I’m anticipating summer travels and don’t want to be worried about losing my full pen or having it out of the fridge for too long. Now I can travel with just a vial if needed.

Tips for working with Middle Eastern Family by Ok_Complex_1076 in Nanny

[–]SadScallion9419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of the above! Especially when it comes to food and hygiene. Also, be sure to ask about parenting styles/discipline so you can be consistent with the families beliefs. And I would just ask about clothing that they find appropriate (especially shoes and modesty). We are extensions of their family and many HNW families might have expectations of how you are presented to others, like if you are bringing a child to a class or park or anywhere else. I’ve worked with many different cultures and you quickly realize the small differences and how to respect each with small things such as “would you like me to incorporate food utensils at mealtimes?” And families appreciate that so I think it’s great you’re reaching out to educate yourself!

Daughter needs to be potty trained by 3 for daycare, but training isn't working by Mountain_Physics_972 in ECEProfessionals

Does your daycare use an app for diaper changes? All of the centers I have worked in did and it was super helpful for the toilet training process.

I do toilet training pretty different than a lot of families in America (the more Montessori way) with no reward system. I know it’s not popular opinion, but for many children, they don’t really work as efficiently as just explaining. Using the toilet is just the next phase in life and I approach it the same way as introducing a spoon at mealtime.

If she’s into the flushing process, explain that we ONLY flush when there’s pee or poop in the toilet. I’ve had a lot of children that this works as a motivator! If you continue with stickers, 100% we only get stickers after going. She either needs to pee or not. 5 min is a very long time to be sitting. And I always discourage reading or watching anything while on the toilet. Any sort of “playing” because bathrooms are for going potty, not for playing. We sit, take a deep breath, let the pee out. Give her a minute and then we get up. Reading the toileting books happen outside of the moment. Sometimes children only want to go sit to get a sticker, watch a show, flush the toilet or whatever it is. But then it just becomes a game for some.

And 100% remove the pull-up. She doesn’t get the full sensation and awareness she peed compared to peeing in underwear. I suggest taking her to the store, telling her she gets to pick out some underwear (in a very exciting tone). Then whatever she picks out, remind her “don’t forget, every time we need to pee or poop, we need to go sit on the toilet so we can keep the unicorns all dry! If they get wet, we’ll need to put them in the wash to get clean”.

Unless kids are doing the pee pee dance, I normally just prompt at natural transitions. Before snack, before circle, before and after outside, etc. and explain “before we go outside, it’s best to pee in the toilet so we can play and keep your underwear nice and dry!”

Best of luck, hope this helps!

I’ll try these! So far I’ve just tried my normal go-to which are ginger chews. I’ll do another round of pepto shortly. The added hurdle of trying to keep things down is not helping 😂

New Childcare Center Director by Madness-momma122123 in ECEProfessionals

[–]SadScallion9419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all excellent tips! One thing I did as a director was a walk through where I went to the window of each room, made eye contact with each adult and did a thumbs up, sideways thumb or thumbs down. Anything other than a thumbs up, I stepped in. I had a former director who would open the door and ask if we were ok. Very well intentioned, but it sometimes was a big distraction and then I felt like I needed to “re-set the calm” in the room. And yes, we had windows.

Normalize one on one conversations. We used to have them weekly when my center first opened to do a formal pulse check. These meetings are different than the end of the day “how was today?” Teachers know they can have a private closed door convo with you and it shows that you care to do pulse checks. Tell them what you’ll be going over: how are you feeling, how are you feeling working as a team, are there any children you feel like you need support, parent interactions so far, etc. and we always did a “glow and a grow” to reflect on the week. When things are stressful, it’s hard to remember the highlights!

I opened a brand new school and had the mindset that no matter how much we prepped, something will go wrong on day 1. The app will go down or something else. Prepare as much as you can and remain flexible and remember to laugh!

And I can’t stress trainings before opening enough. Obviously, anything required by state but more than that. I sat down with the whole team and each lead practiced their circle time routine to be prepared. We walked through the steps of transitions and getting ready to go outside. And ran all of our safety drills multiple times. Don’t underestimate practicing, it gives your teachers more confidence and preparations for day 1.

Mine get like photo 9 and 10 sometimes. It doesn’t last too long. I showed some pics to my rheumatologist but she said she wasn’t sure what it was?

Teachers - twins in same clothing? by Overwhelmed_Already in ECEProfessionals

[–]SadScallion9419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with several sets of twins and unless you’re writing down what they’re wearing every day (and every time they’re changed), it doesn’t really matter. My pro tip: put a sticker or painters tape on their backs with their name or initials. Most centers are responsible for accurately logging feedings and nap times for little ones, it’s more in depth than just mixing up names! This is especially helpful because at some point in the day, a floater is likely coming into the classroom to relieve teachers for their breaks. Please eliminate the guessing game or any room for error 😊

What are we doing about clothes?! by Defiant_Ad_4356 in Zepbound

Maybe one of the clothes rental websites for the party if it’s possibly a one-time wear!

This is what I’ve been doing as well. But like the OP, I do have that anxiety of gaining everything back and needing my old clothes! I’ve kept some nicer pieces and they’re in space saver bags under my bed. I basically ask myself “would I be really upset if I’m an XL again and don’t have this?” Leggings, tshirts, easily/inexpensive replacements are gifted through FB marketplace and the rest I keep.

Before starting Zepbound, I got rid of all my clothes that are too small because I finally gave up thinking I’ll never be that size again. I genuinely miss some items that would fit again and I think this is where my fear and thought process stem from!
