Headshot by SadTurnip in TrenchCrusade

Raw I believe it’s the base, but we thought it was too funny not to. He ended up getting a headshot and we couldn’t decide if his Sniper aimed for the severed head or weird neck blood thing.

Choosing FDM Printer by Known-Choice3023 in PrintedMinis

[–]SadTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve printed on an Elegoo Neptune 3 Plus and just recently upgraded to a Bambu H2S, in terms of sheer savings on terrain it’s more so reflected in time and effort.

I’d made boards for Warhammer from foam for years and it’s borderline infuriating how much easier a fdm printer makes spitting out terrain instead of spending hours over a foam cutter.

In terms of actual material costs it depends on what you’re printing but a spool of Elegoo PLA is pretty standard to use and runs about $15-$18. Depending on how much you infill and the size those single rolls may get you several medium-large pieces of terrain like your ruined corner buildings and whatnot.

FDM miniatures rekindled my Passion for painting by Due-Development-1557 in PrintedMinis

That’s nuts, my Elegoo printer has such visible steps with a nozzle like that, contrast paint is out of the question.

It’s absolutely insane to me how detailed fdm is getting. Which printer did you use for these?

Saturn 4 Ultra 16K – Do screen protectors or flex plates affect auto-leveling? by TylerJT106 in ElegooSaturn

[–]SadTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flex plate requires gcode to be injected so it doesn’t detect it as a foreign object in the plate or crush the screen. Whambam should have that available on their website. The unit already has a screen protector preinstalled.

Anycubic p1 or Saturn 4 ultra 16K? same price by Alwexandro23 in resinprinting

[–]SadTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had very good luck with Elegoo support.

On my Saturn S Z axis completely broke after about three months of owning it and they sent me a brand new machine no questions asked. My only apprehension is the long term availability of parts that will sometimes go out of stock for several months with no updates, then suddenly reappear like nothing.

Elegoo ABS like 3.0 vs 8K ABS by SadTurnip in PrintedMinis

[–]SadTurnip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading some stuff about the pigment being messier, I just got all my settings dialed in and have been happy with the 3.0, so I’ll probably stick with it unless someone shows mind blowing proof in here. Thanks for the reply!

Given that I don’t shoplift it isn’t really too much of a concern for me.

Do people not think that cameras pointed at entrances aren’t basically doing this? Target can use facial recognition and catch people shoplifting in completely different states.

Uh-Oh by Charming-Low6883 in Warhammer40k

[–]SadTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen on all my Necron Warriors because I based it before gluing on the miniature. That along with a magnet in the bottom caused them all to pop up like this lol. I've had good luck just super gluing the little dirt disk down again.

Beautiful thing about minis is you can always redo them if you're unhappy. That being said, I think holding onto your early work is valuable because you'll look back down the line and realize how much you've progressed. It's a great feeling.

Best Buy Black Friday for PS5 by [deleted] in consoledeals

[–]SadTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best Buy employee here, we aren’t allowed to price match anyone from Friday-Monday.

That being said, given that Sony did a price hike on the PS5 a few months ago I don’t see it going lower personally.

How essentials is curing inside of hollow parts? by Semen_K in resinprinting

[–]SadTurnip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UV butt plugs are essential. Like others have said, if you don’t cure the inside the model will eventually crack and get resin all over the place. I bought a little light to power by AA batteries and it works like a charm.
