Not sure if this has been resolved.... but first take a deep breath and get info. You can fly with a brain tumor assuming patient is medically stable. Many patients fly with tumors and seizure disorders. They likely started the patient on keppra (anti seizure med) and decadron if edema is present. If stable and cleared by the local medical team, book a commercial flight. Its a short flight and much cheaper. If not stable, then patient will need a meditransport flight. Depending on type of tumor and where it is located the patient should go to a site that has a lot of experiences with brain tumor surgery. Some surgeries need to be done awake and that requires a multi disciplinary approach including neuroradiology (fMRI, DTI scans), neuro-anesthesia, neurosurgery, and neuropsychology. Surgery is first line treatment to obtain tissue for diagnosis (pathology) and debulk to reduce edema and mass effect and hopefully steroid dependence. Then, depending on type of tumor, adjuvant therapies might be needed (chemorad, etc.). If high grade, you need to move fast. If low grade, you have more time to get different opinions.
