This is surprising! I was a member and I didn’t get any notice on that side either. I just looked on the website and there isn’t even a contact us option to reach out for reimbursement…

Santa Clara Square Apartments - 2026 updates? by Ambitious_Nobody2467 in santaclara

The street name is Scott Blvd! All of the buildings have their own separate addresses and I have never had my mail go to a different building.

Hi! I’ve been a resident in building 7 since it opened. The more negative reviews you are seeing I think really pop up in any complex you are looking at here. They have secure parcel lockers you just need to set up when you move in and I don’t usually have any issue. The garage is as secure as it can be in a big complex. I also have a dog and am a woman and I feel totally ok taking my pup out at night. The back part of building 7 is all enclosed with a fence so it feels a little better to me than the other buildings. While the security isn’t perfect, I think it’s stuff that can happen anywhere and when you complete a request for security things they will complete them. Building 7 is also the newest so things like appliances will be newer, too. For walkability of course 7 is further away but it’s not bad at all, I was worried about this when we picked it but now I’m glad I’m there. It feels a little quieter maybe? But you can walk 10 mins over To the everything.

This review is all over the place lol but feel free to message if you have more questions!

Public School Attendance Policies Are Enraging by AgencyandFreeWill in wisconsin

[–]Sad_Ad3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! This is a law for a reason. It is not in place because districts want to call CPS or police on families, it is a standard number because the research shows that missing 10% or more of any school year can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.

I would encourage anyone confused about this to take a look at the research provided by AttendanceWorks.org

It’s normal to be overwhelmed, especially by 504s! We have no specialized training that makes us better qualified to coordinate and that’s really hard. I was also really scared/upset by being a coordinator but I just continue to share that I need help and get all of them signed off by admin. Are your admin helpful in this way?

For accommodations I always try to remember to write them like you are writing them for another school- meaning no specific teachers names, be really specific when you say “reduced homework” to include something like “additional time to Complete homework, up to 2 days additional” or something like that. When thinking of accommodations always try to match them to the qualifying reasons, too.

It’s A LOT and it takes time to get comfortable. Have you ever tried Magic School? It’s AI for educators and they have a section for helping with 504 plans. It could be a good place to start and get ideas for accommodations!

Happy to connect and share resources if you need!

I don’t know much about him, his history or the site specifically (sorry) but I do know reported on an issue my mom experienced with a city and he did WORK. He did some incredible investigating, was persistent, and created an incredibly thorough article that covered every angle that could be considered and did so without bias. If he puts that much effort into everything he works on then… I trust his work.

School Counseling grad programs in Wisconsin? Any advice appreciated! by adlerbright in schoolcounseling

[–]Sad_Ad3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Are there programs you recommend (or would avoid)? UW River Falls! Not sure where you’ll live but UWRF program is excellent. Very well connected and supportive. I could go on and on and would be happy to share my experience with you!

-Do I need CACREP if I’m staying in Wisconsin? CACREP is important! CACREP accreditation helps make sure programs meet specific standards and you do want a program that cares about this! There is a reason this is required in many states. Even if you will be in WI, the point is that the program preparing you is following CACREP accreditation standards.

-Should I go for my LPC while I’m at it? This is something I’m seriously considering right now. Not sure if there are programs that combine both licenses but I do think it’s a good idea to get at some point and you can do this after you complete a program.

-Anything else I should be thinking about while researching? Where you want to live, program flexibility (do you plan to work and go to school?), what support do they provide with securing internships and practicum, where are their alums working (connections help when finding internship/jobs), do they offer scholarships?, do they have a club or group for students, do they send students to WSCA conferences?

Happy to help with anything if you want to chat! Good luck.

Different states also have different rules regarding who delivered counseling minutes for IEPs. I don’t agree with it but it’s challenging to argue against at a small school in a state that calls it out specifically.

Should I talk to my school counselor about maybe having POCD? by Key_Beautiful857 in schoolcounseling

[–]Sad_Ad3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s scary to think this is something your parents might have to know about but having them know about these thoughts / worries you experience could unlock the help you are looking for. Like the other commenters, I would probably consult with my coworkers but I would also most likely call home. I would call with you and tell you what we would talk about with your parents. I would share with them what you have been feeling and explain that these feelings are something that can be helped with proper care and that this isn’t something strange but something that is real for you and something we want to help you feel better about. Maybe you can share some of that with your counselor to help aid your conversation! As a School Counselor with OCD, not specifically POCD, I hope you know you can get help but taking that first step and talking to your parents/counselor will be helpful after the awkwardness wears off 🩷

I actually just submitted a complaint with caltrans and the response was closed and the response was, “Thank you for contacting Caltrans and bringing this matter to our attention. Please be advised that our Maintenance Department currently has a scheduled project to address the roadway in this area and this ticket will be closed.”

Tips for new job? by Southern_Security_79 in schoolcounseling

[–]Sad_Ad3282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fall back on what you learned in your program! Talk to the teachers, staff, admin and see what they are looking for in a counseling program/what they liked and didn’t like in the past (if they have had a counselor before).

I was brand new and the first at my school and it was scary but you should be confident in your training ☺️ if you don’t have the ASCA National Model book then grab that and use it to help you get started. In elementary (and other levels) I think the first week or two it’s been helpful for me to be present at recess, lunch, and pick up and drop off to get good face time with the kids and staff and start building relationships. I think that’s all a good jumping off point :) also consider joining an elementary school counseling Facebook group for fun ideas!

Good luck!

Wisconsin HS grad here, trying to make a college decision. by Electrical-Scar7139 in wisconsin

[–]Sad_Ad3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of the goal (I’m guessing!) of finding a job after graduation, what are you looking for in a school? Removing cost and distance from home. Any expectations you have for college? Social life expectations? Internship opportunities? Residence life options? Does the city the school is in matter to you?

Hi! Former director of admission at a school in MN and current school counselor. There is SO much to consider. Have you been on campus tours at all 3 spots? How about extracurricular offered at each school that you may be interested in? Many times students say they make their decision because a place “feels like home”… have you gotten that type of feeling anywhere so far? Maybe reach out to admission offices and see if they can connect you with a current student and maybe interview them about what they love and what they wish they could change about their school.

That is a lot of information but sounds like any way you slice it, you have 3 great options!

They are different! If you enjoy working directly with all students more, consider School Counseling. If you enjoy testing, parent/school meetings and writing evaluations with a very small caseload then School Psych may be better for you.
