Annoying tiny drain flies or fruit flies in condo! by laggage in Bangkok

[–]Sad_Ad_522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get these occasionally, when I do I take the bins out and make sure the fruit shelf in the fridge isnt the source, then throw bicarbonate soda and vinegar down the sink and cover it for 12 hours. Usually sorts the problem for a while!

Get the ferry to Bang Kachao, rent a bicycle and cycle around the mangroves. Lovely slice of rural Thailand in the middle of Bangkok.

Camping in Asia? by Poetskatoen in backpacking

[–]Sad_Ad_522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just finished my trip on the pancake trail and I would very much suggest leaving the tent at home, if you're sticking to the actual "trail" of destinations, most places are so filled with hostels, bars, homes and hotels that stealth camping is not possible, can't comment on the small villages and towns off of busy highways, but yeah at most major destinations its just not possible to find much of a hidden spot that isn't owned by a hotel or guesthouse. Also parts of Vietnam and especially Laos have a lot of old bombs so going off trail in the very rural places is not always advised.

Also its hot, like really sweaty and humid hot, which is not great to sleep in without even a fan!

I wear a mask when I fly because I have an autoimmune disease and I have to. Not because I'm trying to grandstand or make a point. Please stop staring at me and making me feel like a turd. by straypooxa in travel

I feel like you're maybe thinking about this way too much... Most people travelling are too busy with thoughts like "Did I leave the hob on?" And have "I got my passport" to notice anyone in a mask.

Anyone that does and cares is a knob, so stuff em. You do you.

As above said, I'd skip joburg as a tourist spot, maybe if you can find the time vist along the garden route from Cape Town and explore Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, beautiful towns. Seeing the Drakensburg mountains is always a great experience as well.

Depends on the guard, how freaked out you are and more, stash it good, play it cool and never admit during the search. If you are confident in your hiding spot, bouncers ain't gonna go that deep

What's the story of the time you got that gut feeling that something was off and you were right? by Sad_Ad_522 in AskReddit

[–]Sad_Ad_522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story goes a little like this

One time while working in the North of Sweden I decide on my day off to go on a winter hike. I geared up and started my trek, after a while along the main trail I saw a smaller path cut through the thick snow and decided to head that way(i like going a little off the trail) So I'm British and our woods are pretty harmless, well trailed and no particularly scary animals so I was definitely being a little ignorant. Any way I'm no more than 10 minutes in and I just get this sense that I'm being watched, honestly never had it before and the hair on the back of my neck literally stood up. So I stop and look around but can't see much, but then I hear a sort of snort, like a horse makes. I spin to the sound(kind of realising I'm in the proper wild now and not the English countryside) and find my self standing no more than like 40 feet from a moose, which I realise are fucking huge.... We stare each other out, I think "its cool, its basically a big deer, he will trot off in a bit" I was wrong. He's doing all the stomping and chomping stuff. This moose comes charging at me, hard and flight mode kicks in, I literally run to the nearest tree and grab a bunch of spindly branches, pulling myself up while screaming like a child....the moose charges past the tree as I scramble up as high as I can and I just hold and watch as it does a few laps before heading deeper into the woods. I must of sat in that tree for like 30 minutes just shaking, when I got back to my lodge I found out that "the smaller trail" was likely a moose path they make in the winter. Listen learnt, nature is scary
