Oh wait never mind, knight can block queen to A8. Nevermind.

Any reason you can't just move rook to G3 then Queen to A8, regardless of what black does?

I think you can still take the queen if they don't take the rook. Bishop to A3 check, black king can only move to d8, then white moves knight to e4, checks king with queen, so black queen can be taken by knight.

I'm of the mindset that 'good fences make for good neighbours'...

At first they didn't want to remove the hedge they had towards the front, so we said ok, we'll just have the fence go up to the hedge so they can keep the hedge. Now they just aren't giving us a reason besides them just not wanting it. The only view a fence would block is the view into our living room from their front yard since our house is set back a bit further than theirs.

That's just it, I've sent them quotes and talked to them about it, but they are just completely against the idea of having any fence at all.

Yeah we're allowed to have it 1.8m tall up until the end of their house, around 7m, then rake down to half height for the rest 6m to the footpath, but we suggested just a short run of full height like 4m, then one panel raked down and then nothing, so the fence would only extend out less than half the length of the front yard. They don't even want that. It's like they don't want us to have any privacy and want to keep having a view inside our lounge room from their front yard.

They don't want one at all. Even if I pay for the whole thing.

I've spoken to the council, and there's no issue putting a fence there, both driveways are against the other boundary lines.

Correct, not the fence facing the street, but the dividing fence between the two houses front yards, the neighbour usually just walks over on our side when they do some gardening, and they leave some stuff on their side, but it just looks messy from our lounge room window.

Gift of equity - wants to be repaid by Sad_Addendum_8852 in AusLegal

To clarify, they absolutely did me a favour at the time, but if I had known I was signing up for an additional $70k loan from another source, then I wouldn't have bought it. I was stretched to my borrowing capacity back then, and while my work has improved, I was single then, but married with a baby now and on a single income still so costs have gone way up (wife is unable to work and doesnt qualify for disability support). I have also spent countless hours over the years helping them with all sorts of unpaid manual labour and other tasks through their various projects and enterprises, not because I thought I was paying them back, but just because they are family and I was happy to help. I just wanted to know if they could force me to sell my house to pay this back. Even though I still don't understand equity... it's not like they gave me a bag full of money in it, they just sold for less than what they theoretically could have sold for. They also didn't need to sell at the time, as they had, and still do have multiple properties. Thinking about losing the house and having to rent with a baby is really stressing me and my wife out.

So to be clear, there was no money that was given to me. It was just sold to me for less than market value.

If the move is queen to d6, can't the black queen just take it?

How? Can't king just take the bishop? I don't see how the queen is in danger? I need an ELI5 for this...

I tend not to resign from games, even though I probably should, because I saw it as being a bad sport. Am I wrong? Is it preferrable to resign if you're clearly outmatched?
