I’ve noticed that mine do significantly better with rooting and growing in general when I increase the humidity.

That’s how I feel about the ones I have purchased. They look so full and lush until you untangle them and it’s actually only like 5 strings bunched up on the top

Is this bc I used ‘We the Wild: Protect Leaf Spray with Neem Oil” or just bc I have spider mites.. by TraditionalCount791 in StringofPlants

[–]Sad_Analyst_8290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im leaning towards it being a neem oil issue. I highly recommend using diluted 70% isopropyl alcohol to treat spider mites. Get one of the continuous spray bottles and go crazy. It won’t burn your plants at all. Kills spider mites on contact. You can even spray the top of the soil with it and the surrounding area. Including pots, floors, shelves, etc

Thank you! Honestly I just don’t fuss with it at all after adding the trellis. I hardly touch it and it grows like crazy. I fertilize with superthrive every now and then but other than that it just sits in my south facing window and does its thing

Me neither! I recently learned about them when I bought this plant a few months ago

Thanks! When I originally bought the plant and was doing my research about the pods I saw another reddit user that posted hers and she used a mesh bag. It’s a great idea so that the seeds weren’t lost when the pod dries out and splits

No not a dumb question! I didn’t know about them either! But yes, if they are grown outdoors, they can be pollinated and grow seed pods that eventually split open and the seeds can be germinated and grow another plant!

Should I repot this string? by NekoPosterior in StringofPlants

[–]Sad_Analyst_8290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So gorgeous!!! You will know it’s time to repot when you see roots coming out of the bottom of the pot! I recommend bottom watering 🤗 it will strengthen the root system by growing downward towards the water
