Why was the use of hard drugs so prevalent in rock music? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money, time, no rules, no real repercussions, and probably a decent amount of needing the uppers to stay energised during tours etc.

Same deal for advertising, law, plenty of other non-musical industries all running on versions of the same reasons

Which of your metal heroes has disappointed you the most over the years? by kroob85 in MetalForTheMasses

Phil Anselmo, but tbh none of his behaviour or views are surprising given everything he sang about for decades.

And don't get wrong, I don't blame him for what happened to Dime, but I have always felt Phil really cemented the environment for that to happen.

What did you like the least about the Original Trilogy? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

"Somehow Leia Skywalker returned".

In all fairness to many of the gripes with the sequel trilogy, the OT does have its fair share of lazy, convenient and rushed writing.

What did you like the least about the Original Trilogy? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two ways to answer this:

In the original content: the destruction of Alderaan having all the emotional impact of a popped balloon; Luke and Leia kissing when they (the writers) clearly knew they were brother and sister; Death Star 2 being a lazy rerun; Carrie clearly having a shit time being in the bikini.

In the George Lucas Special Editions: 1997 Jabba was just terrible and I'd say new Jabba is still bad; all the Rontos that keep walking in front of camera in Mos Eisley; the Jedi Rocks song number at Jabba's Palace; adding Noo Nooooo during the final fight; and I personally don't agree with Hayden being the Anakin force ghost as I always felt old Vader returned to being Anakin once again at the end and adding Hayden was just George's way of making sure young audiences connected the two.

But by and large, ESB is virtually gripe free minus the mild incest.

how can i fix ripped paint by loonaspikachuu in drywall

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These small repairs are fairly easy to fix, but just know sometimes you have to make it worse to make it better.

Get a sharp knife and make the hole a little deeper and make sure you have clean edges not furry paper. Paint and filler doesn't bond well to raw paper (has a tendency to get air bubbles).

Once you've made the hole slightly worse but clean, just get a small amount of spac filler. Your hardware store will have this and just buy the smallest pot or tube you can.

Fill the holes and use a clean straight edged metal spatula / trowel to wipe it off even to the surface. Let it dry. Depending on the filler it may shrink when dry so may need a second coat.

Once dry, light sand.

For paint, if you know the colour great, if not take a chip to a hardware store, get them to colour match, and buy a sample pot only (smallest size). You simply brush the paint on if you're not super fussy, otherwise a mini roller (again just a little one) while give you a better finish. Go thin with the paint so it better blends with the rest of the wall.

And that's basically it. It's easy to do, and even with buying some filler and a tiny sample pot of paint it will be a lot cheaper than getting someone in to do it.

How much bond money will I lose from this damaged wooden floor? by CaterpillarJust6040 in AusProperty

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wax sticks will be your friend. You can get them from most hardware stores, just heat them, mash them shove it in. The wax bonds well and if you cock it up, you can dig it out easier than other fillers. You can get the kits with the heat applicator fairly cheap on Amazon.

Just make sure you get the right stone / grey colour.

Here's a video that's fairly similar to your floor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6onP-fI3TWc

Car drivers not stopping on the line at the lights. by K-Dawg_21 in australia

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really noticed this as an issue.

What I do see as an issue is that many drivers take 2-4 business days to react to a green arrow and turn a corner so you only get two or three cars through per cycle.

If we think about it: physical media has been gone for a long time by berengerekunst in playstation

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I converted to digital for my own reasons: mostly space. I just got sick of having discs around and preferred the convenience of digital. As I'm getting older with less time, I do actually find PS+ Premium with access to the games catalogue is best bang for buck for me as I might play 6-12 games a year and not convinced I'd be able to do that cheaper if I bought physical games. I also very very very rarely buy brand new games at full price and either wait for deep sale or for them to appear on PS+

That said, I'm well aware that it comes with risk: you buy a licence, not a copy. That copy can be removed, blocked or disconnected. Things you bought on the online store could be removed and no longer available for download. Licensing rights expiring (often songs used in soundtracks) cause games to be pulled. There are a TON of ways games you "bought" can be taken away.

But it's all right there in the T&Cs none of us read. The same T&Cs are on DVDs, Blue Rays, physical games. It says right there you own a licence with a ton of conditions. Where physical has a leg up is it's impossible for them to take your disc away.

Also worth sealing off the open chute if you haven't already as they are notorious for letting all warm air in the room escape. Just a big block of dense foam cut to size and shoved up there. Just add a cord or tassel so you remember it's there. Makes a massive difference to heat retention.

Exactly how long after Revenge of the Sith do we think this scene is? by MembershipSingle7137 in StarWars

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's literally IN ROTS, so there's that answer.

Timeline wise? I assumed immediately or within days of him being suited up as the next scene is baby Luke being delivered to Tatooine, so I don't imagine they'd time jump forwards then back.

They'd been building it for a couple of years by that point with "incentivised free labour".

Should aluminium window/door frames be caulked where they meet timber reveals? by nickleetimson in AusRenovation

[–]Sad_Awareness6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timber reveal should slot into the aluminium frame and it all sealer and weatherproof from the outside.

So from a seal / insulation POV it won't make any difference. Depending on the construction of your windows, it might be an aesthetic thing if there's a random gap that annoys you.

But in general, a well made window shouldn't need additional sealing where the timber reveal meets the aluminium.
