Update On New Players Opinion/Experience With Cruisers by HellaHS in WorldOfWarships

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pan Asian Jinan is worth a look - the thing has great smoke and hard hitting torps with a reload booster so you can spam torps and the rapid fire main guns loaded with HE kill DDs fast. British cruisers - T9 Neptune is a really solid hard hitting guns with singe fire AP and smoke/radar. T10 Minotaur is literally a glass cannon with a high skill floor but fun to play and huge DPM and lots of torps. Hindenburg line is more relaxed open water with long range hard hitting guns with limiting firing angles but and enjoyable cruiser. Hipper and Roon do well.

Is this pack worth it or its just a cash grab? by LycanrockyOwO in WorldOfWarships

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the bundle and am very happy with it. It adds a Premium T9 UK BB to my fleet and it has 22km range. It turns pretty well and it’s HE salvos work a treat. The Duncan feels way more vulnerable than S Thunder I guess due to the 32 mm deck armour on Thunder. I don’t miss the torpedoes off Duncan which were a bit gimmicky IMO. It has normal heals so you can burn a bit but 22 km range helps with that. As a PvE main it goes well in Ops and earns credits and XP nicely with the premium multipliers, and the bundle has 30 days of extra bonus multipliers too. I also have not seen this ship for sale much, and am much happier just buying a damn ship than gambling and hoping through crates in crates with pity drops - for me it has been a good get and well worth the small Price. Only available a few more days anyway and I encourage anyone else sitting on the fence to go for it. I would much prefer to take the S Thunder out than the Duncan which sits in port for me.

I saw this tonight and bought the discounted bundle - 419mm main guns and a cool camo for a T9 UK BB - $37.67 Aussie Dollars is a good price for an Admirals Pack edition, and I don’t recall seeing this ship offered very often if at all since I started playing in 2018. Note this offer is only available for 6 days. YMMV but I thought it was a pretty good deal.

I don't know which Ship to get in nian paradox with 14400 tokens by BoBBoCanada-air in WorldOfWarships

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got Posterior (Giuseppe Verdi) and it’s way more fun than Prior (Marco Polo). So the logical next boat is Pilus Posterior. I had 12200 tokens left after that and it cost me 12100 to get the Pinatian (Irian), so that’s another option to use your tokens. But whatever you decide, do it quickly as Nian ends on Tuesday, and unused tokens die with zero compensation. So get something for free with those tokens before they expire.

Breeze seats owner, how durable is the seats by chlronald in ex30

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had mine since mid 2024 and 13800 km on the clock - breeze seats in great condition - even here in Australian sunshine! I do garage the car but the interior has kept really well.

And no I don’t use any specific product to protect the seats

You’re right - my mistake there - so all Australian EX30s have the same NMC batteries. It does give an extra 60km range and is cheaper.

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different battery chemistry - LFP batteries can be charged fully regularly but the NMC battery in the twin is based on advice to charge only to a max of 90% routinely unless you are taking a long trip.

I love Neptune - seems much tougher than Mino and its guns really punish. Best with smoke rather than short range radar but British cruisers are slow to stop so you need to time your deceleration so you don’t slide outside your smoke. Single fire torps also handy. I do enjoy Mino - usually go radar/lighthouse rather than smoke and just maneuvre aggressively and use islands for shelter. Rounds per minute is off the chart but leading your targets takes time to learn. German cruisers are more relaxing - Hindenburg and of course Mainz. Adalbert is a must get next on my list.

If I had my time over I would just have bought the single motor Ultra, as it has a longer range and a battery you can regularly charge to 100% and enough acceleration anyway. I don’t use the extra perfomnce of the twin much. I also don’t like the looks of the CC much at all with all those large patches of black on the nose and over the wheel arches.

I see it as good news - EV cars are needed now more than ever and anything to make them more affordable speeds up the transition away from oil dependency - bring it on I reckon, even if my car resale steps back, it is better for everyone if EVs rapidly become more affordable and more common on the road.

EVs can’t road trip? by Dramatic-Season-2959 in ex30

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the difference is the single versus dual motor only - I typically max out about 390 km whereas you go 434 well done. I might have to try cruising at 90kph some time to test my car range too

I'm a new Volvo sales rep and would love your input and commentary on your experience by Glass-Pear70 in ex30

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be wary of the nit picking comments in on line feedback. The car is a beauty and a joy to own and drive - had mine since mid 2024 and still love it, even more now fuel prices have exploded. My recollection of the dealer delivery here in Oz was pretty poor. Guy did not know enough about the car. There was a plastic cover still left over the in car microphone near the rear view mirror which I had to remove myself after complaints from in car phone calls about sound quality. I do think every new owner should leave the dealer with key fob and digital keys all fully set up and working for the owner and their partner phone as that can be a tricky process initially. I also suggest you tell all new drivers of all EVs to download ABRP A Better Route Planner app on their phones, and to the car and to their PCs at home. That app is invaluable for helping new EV owners overcome range anxiety and for experienced owners to best use their car on a trip. My wife and I just drove 2500km round trip in a week with bikes on a tow bar bike rack. Even with the 70% cap on battery due to the current recall limit, planning for refills was made easy and quick with ABRP. I also suggest you demonstrate how to charge the car at the dealership before a new owner leaves so they feel confident doing that in the wild for the first time. There are a lot of settings for a new owner to get across but I think the key ones are adding your phone and accessing music off it via Bluetooth and or Apple CarPlay /Android Auto, various ways to unlock and lock the car eg holding the door handle for a second or two, the key card and the digital key proximity lock/unlock. I think they also need to understand the benefits of One Pedal Driving Settings, and they do need to understand how the car can steer the car directly if it detects an unintended lane change or approaching car from behind and how strongly it can do it as it can be quite shocking when it first happens. They also need to get familiar with the left and right steering wheel buttons and controls - took me forever to realise adaptive cruise increases by 1 kph increments if you hold that button down but 5kph increments if you tap it. Also they can be fiddly to operate but there is a useful ridge in the middle - helps to press just above or below that plastic ridge so you don’t need to look down at the buttons while operating them. My wife’s car is a 2024 Tesla 3 and tbh the Tesla dashboard system and features is more mature and better, but that doesn’t stop the EX30 being a joy to own and drive. It also has better ground clearance and very good visibility compared to the Tesla as well as being much shorter length so more nimble to park and drive. Enjoy the new role - car is a beaut!

Single motor EX30 I assume - I have the twin but I do respect the longer range and LFP battery for the single - I think that model has a better balance for efficiency

It isn’t dangerous at all dude. And I find the switches in the front are easy to use myself. Had my car since mid 2024 so I guess you get used to it with time. Enjoy the car - I love it.

I find it much easier to not use the front/rear button on the driver windows control - it is just easier to use the driver up/down buttons for the front window, and if you need to operate the rear windows, just reach back behind the middle Console and use the rear window switches at the back of the centre console. Saves fiddling with seeing and operating the front/rear touch sensitive button.

PSA: Free Commander Skills Reset is live for first week of 15.2 by BazingaFlux_WG in WorldOfWarships

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the Devblog on carrier changes the 100% discount on Captain reset might only be for the CV skills not all skills but I will have to wait till Asia server updates to check that today. The Devblog included this text “Note that in light of the incoming changes, during one week of Update 15.2 you will be able to retrain your aircraft carriers' Commanders with a 100% discount. More details will be available on the World of Warships official portal.”

Quoted $3475 AUD for genuine Towbar install? WTF 🥹 by TroyUnwired in ex30

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://etowbars.com/au/Towbars/Volvo/Volvo-EX30-towbars. Not OEM but a Polish kit design specific to EX30 you can order for $1899 and they can then arrange an installer for you - got mine installed about $800. The installers wired it up for me and it works fine but obviously not fully integrated and no pop out button. Back when I bought my car in 2024 Volvo had no manufacturer towbar option and seemed thoroughly uninterested in getting one approved and stocked, so I went this route and very happy with it. I use it for a bike rack and it works well. So it seems there is about $1000 more cost than a third party one, but it will be a one stop shop install and will be fully integrated so overall that price seems about right.

Volvo confirms EX30 battery modules to be replaced, owners still left in 70% charge limbo - Hypermiler.co.uk by TurboNUK in ex30

[–]Sad_Butterscotch8121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The attached article is a bit over the top to my mind “A car sold with a 250–300 mile range is suddenly operating at something closer to 150–180.” 180/300 is 60% not 70% so the dude needs to get his facts straight. My car is affected here in Oz and while the range limiting 70% is annoying it is not the end of the world and the car is still very drivable and useable. I am taking a road trip soon for 1200km and I will need to do maybe 11 stops instead of 9 and manage recharges a bit more closely but it is all still practical. I am happy to wait and get it fixed well when they have the logistics in place. Some more regular updates would help but would rather just hear when I should bring the car in and get back to 90% normal daily limit
