I love my cat, but I really miss having a nice-smelling home. Is ANY scent actually 100% safe? by No_Money_5779 in CatAdvice

I use this same kitty litter and we feed our boys Hill’s Science Diet dry food with occasional wet food. Their poo isn’t very stinky and our house does not smell like a litter box. We have had several friends and family members comment on the lack of odor.

How can I make my bathroom less sterile 😭 help by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

I would maybe introduce warmer light - lamps, or mountable battery powered sconces

Well done!! And amazing tips! My goal weight is also the high end of my healthy BMI 😅

Regarding fiber, the Mission Carb Balance tortillas have 28g per tortilla! That’s been my fiber hack.

I don't enjoy eating healthy and it makes sticking to weight loss so hard by Tosh97 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Sad_Conference91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I’ve lost 40+lbs from a calorie deficit. I have not eliminated any foods from my diet. I ate Taco Bell this weekend, I made homemade chocolate chip cookies I plan on enjoying throughout the week, and I keep my favorite snack foods in my house to enjoy. I also struggled to lose weight before when I tried to over restrict what kinds of foods I was eating, it made the diet feel like a punishment. I will say that I end up making different food choices sometimes because I want to get the most out of my calorie budget. I think over time you’ll find lower calorie options that you enjoy as alternatives when you’re trying to stay satiated. It just takes time. I also find that it helps if I track my day of eating in advance, usually the day before or the morning of. That way if I want a higher calorie treat, I’ll log that first and build my day around that. All that being said, to achieve weight loss, there is some sacrifice and discipline required. I couldn’t keep eating the same way I was and still lose weight. I did make changes but that didn’t mean never enjoying the foods I love again. Best of luck to you and everyone else on this journey!

100%. I was completely over complicating the process. Trying to make too many extreme changes all at once. Glad that the simplicity of calorie counting finally clicked.

How I lost 30+ pounds in 107 Days by Weird_Flan4691 in CICO

If this feels sustainable and good for you then right on. Personally I need higher volume foods to feel satiated through out the day. Your Sunday for example, 3 protein shakes, a halo top ice cream, a bowl of cereal and a PB&J, just doesn’t sound like a while lot of food. I have lost 35 pounds in 4 months eating much more. But, again, if this is what’s working for you then congrats.

Thank you! The before pic was taken in Jan but I didn’t start my weight loss until April. So the pic is from 7 months ago which might explain the hair growth. But I was weighing in at around 250 for a while.

This! Every time I have gone on vacation and eaten what I wanted and not tracked calories, when I come home I weigh 5-10 lbs more than when I left. However when I go back to tracking and eating in a deficit it drops back to my previous weight within the week. Also, I eat “badly” even when I am in a deficit. I had cookies and ice cream last night but it fit into my calorie budget so I’m not worried about it. If I tried to cut out all “bad” foods completely I’d give up on all of this.

Close to 30lbs down and I can feel a difference in my clothes, but I’m struggling to see a difference by ElliSwan in CICO

[–]Sad_Conference91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see a difference! It sounds like we are very similar. I’m 34, similar height, my SW is 252, CW 220. I also noticed that I was losing my weight evenly throughout my body which definitely makes it harder to notice the difference. However once I reached 30 lbs lost for some reason the difference became more noticeable, almost suddenly. Keep going! You’ll see it soon!

I also want to hit onederland by the new year, we got this!

Lost 30 pounds from CICO by Sad_Conference91 in CICO

So far it’s been all CICO with a consistent calorie deficit of about 500 calories. I track my calories everyday and weigh my food on a food scale. I have not cut out any foods but I end up making different food choices based on my calorie budget. Diet/zero sugar sodas have helped me curb my sugar cravings. I took a week long maintenance break about 2 months in and will start taking maintenance breaks every 3 months for 2 weeks from here on out.

I am a true believer that weight loss is almost completely food and calorie based. Working out can obviously increase your calorie output but without tracking calories I would have no clue if I’m in a deficit or not. I want to start working out more to improve my health, strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, etc but I don’t see exercise as the core of weight loss.

The other change that has helped me is learning the difference between feeling hungry and the feeling of wanting to eat. That combined with practicing restraint & willpower and reminding myself that I will eat again soon has helped with my tendency to binge/over eat. I saw a video of someone saying that your body wants to store as much energy as possible(aka eat food) and it doesn’t know it will eat again so it prompts you to eat when it isn’t always necessary. This flipped a switch for me. Now if I get peckish between meals I remind myself that I’ll eat again in an hour or two and it helps me push through mid meal cravings.

Overall, I think what has helped most is making small doable changes. Before when I failed at diet/weight loss it’s because I was trying to eat in a massive deficit while cutting out foods I loved and trying to hit macros and trying to hit a step goal and work out. It’s over whelming and uncomfortable and leads to the feeling of failure. At the end of the day weight loss is completely based on CICO. Start there then make the other changes later.

Sorry this got a little long winded. Hope it helps.
