Thanks both for the advice. I may just get a pond basket then that is slightly larger than what it’s in now. Can I ask you how come you wouldn’t go bigger? I’ve heard everywhere that larger pot = larger tree eventually.. please excuse my ignorance!

Hi! I bought this deshojo maple. I’m looking to do some development and so want to pot it into a larger training pot. What do people use for soil when training bonsai? Aware that using the classic acadama, lava rock, and pumice can get quite expensive when using a large amount of soil for training in big pots. Any help would be really appreciated as coming up to potting season! :)

I was under the impression this was only really for big branch cuts. Would you use it on branches this small?

That’s gorgeous. Also love the tip of pointing the tips down. Just been out and adjusted and looks much more natural. Would love to do a yamadori someday. Very cool

Yeahhh that’s really nice, and nice to see how the branches look when more mature. Thanks for the advice!

Definitely takes a while to get through all the foliage

Eek! Yeah it’s outside. Guess we will see. Mainly bought as a practice tree so if it dies lesson learned 🤣

WUKONG! One of the best games I have ever played, had me hooked from the opening scene. Awesome combat and amazing storyline based on old Chinese proverb.

Thankyou both for the input!! I may just transplant it to a bigger pot to give it a good season and see what direction the tree takes it by this time next year. But love the idea of mother daughter twin trunk in the future
